An existing document may be “published” to create a fixed-format document using the user interface of the exiting document's native application. The content viewer is integrated into an application program interface, reducing the burden of software maintenance and enhancing security features. The content viewer invokes a web browser, which provides a host environment for the viewer to display the published document.
