Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for power generation. A wind turbine is configured to drive an electrical generator. One or more solar panels are electrically coupled to the electrical generator to provide power from the electrical generator and/or the one or more solar panels. A base is configured for mounting the wind turbine to a structure. The wind turbine may be pivotally coupled to the base such that an angle of the wind turbine is adjustable relative to the structure.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are disclosed for harvesting publicly accessible data from internet web pages. In one embodiment, the invention includes emulating user requests that are consistent with a user operating an industry standard browser, receiving text in response to the generated request, using a set of relevance estimators to select a most relevant candidate from a set of data items, and segmenting text received from a web page into extractable blocks. Relevance estimators may use techniques such as word matching, pattern matching, format matching, context assessment, word proximity, and the like. The extracted data may be aggregated into a database and used in applications such as phone directories or sales catalogs. The present invention facilitates data harvesting from web pages related to one or more specified topics.

The method in disclosed embodiments comprises installing a digital communications network within a limited selected geographical region. The network is formed from a high speed backbone and a plurality of nodes branching outward from the high speed backbone. A plurality of communicating stations are connected to the network and users at each communicating station subscribe to communicate over the network. Due to the unique scope of the network, the users are related primarily by virtue of their residence in a common geographical region. The network may be installed within a public utility right of way and may be used to monitor utility usage and to bill utility users. The network is thus independent of public telephone infrastructure. The network is preferably partitioned and communications are direct from station to station without broadcasting.
