  • Publication number: 20240158554
Abstract: Provided is a polymerizable composition including (a) a polymerizable component comprising a diol bis(allyl carbonate) and/or a pre-polymer thereof; and (b) a polymerization initiator component including: (i) a di(C6-C10 alkyl) peroxydicarbonate, and (ii) an organic peroxide having one peroxy, one peroxycarbonate, or one peroxybenzoate group and a 1,1-dimethylalkyl group bonded to a peroxy oxygen, where (ii) comprises a molecular weight ranging from 200 to 250 g/mole, the polymerization initiator (b) is free of diisopropyl peroxydicarbonate, (i) comprises an amount ranging from 4.87% to 7.90% by weight relative to the total solids of the polymerizable composition and (ii) comprises an amount within the range defined by the following formula: (4.406X2?0.592X+0.021)?Y?(0.726X2?0.121X+0.009) where X corresponds to the weight fraction of (i) and Y corresponds to the weight fraction of (ii). Also provided is a method of making an optical article from the polymerizable composition.

  • Patent number: 11433572
Abstract: Provided is a method for preparing a polymeric article including introducing a polymerizable composition into a mold; sealing the composition within the mold using a sealing means; placing the mold into a convection cure oven; subjecting the polymerizable composition to a cure cycle sufficient to partially cure the composition; extracting the mold from the convection cure oven; optionally, removing the sealing means from the mold; placing the mold into an auxiliary curing chamber which is placed into the convection cure oven, or placing the mold into an auxiliary curing chamber which is within the convection cure oven; subjecting the polymerizable composition to a further cure cycle to complete polymerization of the composition, thereby forming a cured polymeric article; and removing the cured polymeric article from the mold.

  • Patent number: 8221562
Abstract: A method for casting medium carbon, B/Ti steel product using compact strip processing or thin slab casting. The method can include providing a steel composition including boron and titanium and casting the steel composition into a slab having a thickness between about 25 and 150 mm. The slab can have a cast composition including about 0.23 to 0.30 wt. % carbon, about 0.0010 to 0.0050 wt. % boron, about 0.010 to 0.050 wt. % titanium, about 1.15 to 1.50 wt. % manganese, less than 0.35 wt. % silicon and a Ti/N ratio greater than 2.9. The amount of each element is provided based upon the total weight of the steel composition. The steel slab can be free from cracks and significant defects. Furthermore, the steel slab can be used for electric resistance welded (ERW) products.
