  • Publication number: 20080015536
Abstract: An absorbent article such as a sanitary napkin, adult incontinence device, or the like. The absorbent article has a pair of flaps for securing the absorbent article. The flaps extend laterally outward from the main body portion of the article. The flaps are associated with the main body portion at a juncture along the longitudinal edges of the main body portion. The flaps have a notch. The flaps have at least one first zone of anisotropic stiffness contiguous with the notch. The first zone of anisotropic stiffness has a relatively stiffer direction and a relatively less stiff direction. The first zone of anisotropic stiffness can be made of corrugated or ring-rolled portions of the absorbent article.

  • Publication number: 20050261653
Abstract: An absorbent article having a longitudinal centerline and adapted to be worn in an undergarment having a crotch portion bounded on opposite sides by portions of curved leg openings. The absorbent article comprises a main body portion, the main body portion comprising a liquid pervious body-facing surface, a liquid impervious garment facing surface, and an absorbent core positioned between the body-facing surface and the garment-facing surface. The absorbent article comprises at least one indicator marker visible from the body-facing surface, the indicator markers disposed to indicate proper alignment of the absorbent article with respect to undergarment-specific features such as the curved leg openings.

  • Publication number: 20050261652
Abstract: A method for correctly placing an absorbent article in the crotch portion of an undergarment having a crotch portion bounded on opposite sides by portions of curved leg openings. In one embodiment the method comprises the steps of providing an absorbent article having at least one indicator marker visible from the body-facing surface, the indicator marker disposed to indicate proper alignment of the absorbent article with respect to the curved leg openings; positioning the absorbent article in the crotch portion such that the indicator marker is aligned with at least one leg elastic of the curved leg openings; and, affixing the article to the crotch portion of the undergarment.

  • Publication number: 20050215967
Abstract: The present invention relates to absorbent articles, typically for feminine protection, comprising a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent element positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet, and at least a fluid acquisition/distribution layer. The absorbent article also comprises edge barrier elements for intercepting fluids. The edge barrier elements comprise a liquid absorbent thermoplastic composition comprising a polymeric base material having particles of water-insoluble water-swellable absorbent material dispersed therein, and are comprised between the absorbent core and the at least one fluid acquisition/distribution layer.

  • Publication number: 20040170813
Abstract: The present invention relates to a color printed liquid permeable laminated structure comprising a first liquid permeable layer and a second liquid permeable layer, the first layer is color printed on at least one of its surfaces prior being laminated to the second layer and stabilizing the laminated structure with a bonding means. These color printed laminated structures are particularly suitable for use in disposable absorbent articles for feminine protection, typically as so called ‘secondary’ topsheet in face to face relation with so called ‘primary’ topsheet, through which they are visible.

  • Publication number: 20040068244
Abstract: An absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, having flaps with a combination of first and second stress relief means for relieving the stresses that develop in the flaps when the flaps are folded down along the edges of the wearer's panties in the crotch. The flaps extend laterally outward from the main body portion of the article. The flaps are associated with the main body portion at a juncture along the longitudinal edges of the main body portion. The flaps have a first stress relief means located remote from the juncture. The first stress relief means can be either a slit or a notch. The flaps have at least one second stress relief means contiguous with the first stress relief means. The second stress relief means is a zone of differential extensibility. The zone of differential extensibility is capable of greater extension in a generally longitudinal direction than other portions of the absorbent article.
