Patent number: 8344839Abstract: A transformer includes: —a plurality of windings (P, S1, S2) wound on a coil former (100), preferably in the form of a one-piece coil former, —a pair of first insulating flanges (106) separating a first winding (P) from a pair of second windings (S1, S2), —a pair of second insulating flanges (104) defining together with the first insulating flanges (106) two winding spaces for the second windings (S1, S2). The ends (P1, P2) of the wire of the first winding (P) extend across the winding spaces for the second windings (S1, S2). Insulating walls (208) are provided extending between the ends (P1, P2) of the wire of the first winding (P) and the second windings (S1, S2) to provide insulation therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2006Date of Patent: January 1, 2013Assignee: OSRAM Gesellschaft mit beschraenkter HaftungInventor: Marco Faccin

Patent number: 7965527Abstract: A device for protecting an electronic converter, e.g. for halogen lamps, includes a comparator having an output as well as non-inverting and inverting inputs for receiving a first input signal indicative of the load applied to the converter and a second input signal indicative of the temperature of the converter. The comparator is in a non-inverting Schmitt-trigger configuration having an input-output characteristic with hysteresis. Consequently, the output is switched from a first value to a second value to switch off the electronic converter as the first input signal exceeds a first threshold value. The output is switched back from the second value to the first value to restart the electronic converter when the first input signal falls below a second threshold value. The second threshold value is lower than the first threshold value, and both threshold values are a function of the signal indicative of the temperature of the converter.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2007Date of Patent: June 21, 2011Assignee: OSRAM Gesellschaft mit beschraenkter HaftungInventor: Marco Faccin

Publication number: 20090034307Abstract: A device for protecting an electronic converter, e.g. for halogen lamps, includes a comparator (10) having an output (Vo) as well as non-inverting (14) and inverting (12) inputs for receiving a first input signal (Vi(P)) indicative of the load applied to the converter and a second input signal (Vref(T°)) indicative of the temperature of the converter. The comparator (10) is in a non-inverting Schmitt-trigger configuration having an input-output characteristic with hysteresis. Consequently, the output (Vo) is switched from a first value (Vo1) to a second value (Voh) to switch off the electronic converter as the first input signal (Vi(P)) exceeds a first threshold value (VT1). The output (Vo) is switched back from the second value (Voh) to the first value (Vo1) to restart the electronic converter when the first input signal (Vi(P)) falls below a second threshold value (VT2).Type: ApplicationFiled: January 22, 2007Publication date: February 5, 2009Applicant: OSRAM GESELLSCHAFT MIT BESCHRÄNKTER HAFTUNGInventor: Marco Faccin

Patent number: 7460378Abstract: A circuit arrangement for protecting an electronic converter against overloads includes: a low impedance path selectively activatable to prevent ignition of the electronic converter, the low impedance path including an electronic switch, a control capacitor whose charge voltage controls the electronic switch, whereby the electronic switch is activated to prevent ignition of the electronic converter when the charge voltage of the control capacitor is above a given threshold, a first generator for loading the control capacitor, the first generator activatable in the presence of a first overload condition of the electronic converter, and a second generator for further loading the control capacitor, the second generator activatable in the presence of a second overload condition of the electronic converter, the second overload condition being heavier than the first overload condition.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2006Date of Patent: December 2, 2008Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fur Elektrisch Gluhlampen mbHInventor: Marco Faccin

Patent number: 7443106Abstract: Circuit with a switch-off device for the operation of light sources The invention relates to a circuit with a switch-off device for the operation of light sources (Lp), have the following features: a self-commutated half-bridge inverter having a series circuit of an upper electronic switch and a lower electronic switch (T1, T2), which are joined at a half-bridge midpoint (M) and are connected between a supply voltage (+) and a ground potential, a start capacitor (C3) which is joined via a trigger element (DIAC) to a control electrode of the lower electronic switch (T2), and a switch-off device having an input (E) and an output, which are configured and connected so that they discharge the start capacitor (C3) if a switch-off signal is applied to the input (E). The switch-off device contains a time delay.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2005Date of Patent: October 28, 2008Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft für Elektrische Glühlampen mbHInventors: Marco Faccin, Felix Franck, Michele Menegazzi

Publication number: 20050275356Abstract: A circuit with a switch-off device for the operation of light sources (Lp), has the following features: a self-commutated half-bridge inverter having a series circuit of an upper electronic switch and a lower electronic switch, which are joined at a half-bridge midpoint and are connected between a supply voltage and a ground potential, a start capacitor which is joined via a trigger element to a control electrode of the lower electronic switch, and a switch-off device having an input and an output, which are configured and connected so that they discharge the start capacitor if a switch-off signal is applied to the input. The switch-off device contains a time delay. In order to be able to keep the components in the time delay small, it is proposed that the switch-off device should comprise two successively connected transistor stages with bipolar transistors.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2005Publication date: December 15, 2005Applicant: PATENT-TREUHAND-GESELLSCHAFTInventors: Marco Faccin, Felix Franck, Michele Menegazzi
