  • Patent number: 9215602
Abstract: A method for simulating a mobile telephone network with shared-access channels. The simulation method includes the steps of simulating at least a first and a second configuration of the mobile telephone network that are statistically independent one from the other. Each one of the steps of simulating includes at least the steps of: determining a number of mobile terminals generating a packet data traffic; assigning to a list of mobile terminals included in the number of mobile terminals generating a packet data traffic, at least one shared-access channel of the mobile telephone network to be simulated; and performing a scheduling management algorithm of the list of mobile terminals on the shared-access channel.

  • Patent number: 8391248
Abstract: A method of evaluating the performance of a mobile telephone network having at least a first and a second simulation of a first and a second network configuration, respectively, which are statistically independent of each other. Each simulation includes the following steps: specifying a total number of users to be simulated; determining a sequence of activation of user blocks included in this total number of users to be simulated and indicating a traffic distribution; activating said user blocks in succession until the total number of users to be simulated is reached; and processing at least one radio resource management event relating to the traffic distribution associated with each currently activated user block. The simulations are repeated until a predetermined accuracy threshold is reached for each simulated network value.

  • Patent number: 7286854
Abstract: A communication network includes a plurality of antennas and includes among the antennas at least one reconfigurable antenna adapted to serve communication traffic in a respective coverage area, the reconfigurable antenna having a radiation diagram exhibiting a plurality of selectively adjustable gain values for a set of directions, each direction in the set defining a propagation path between the antenna and a portion of the coverage area, determining, for each direction in the set, at least one value of communication traffic and at least one attenuation value over the propagation path, and selectively and independently alloting to each direction in the set a respective gain value as a function of at least one of the value of communication traffic and the attenuation value determined for that direction. The arrangement is adapted for use in communication networks such as second and third generation mobile communication networks employing electrically controllable antennas.

  • Patent number: 7107049
Abstract: A system and related device emulates the behavior of mobile networks independently from the manner of collecting data about the behavior of the network obtained through a simulation of field measurements. The system emulates the behavior of the network during the exchange of information between terminals and uses an emulation device comprising two circuit blocks. The first is able to process the information according to time sequences corresponding to those of mobile networks. The second one exchanges information between the terminals connected to suitable interfaces. This architecture makes it possible to emulate uplink and downlink functions of the mobile network, displaying on the terminals the effects of the behavior of the network under various operating conditions.

  • Publication number: 20040209612
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and related device for emulating the behaviour of mobile networks independently from the manners of collecting data about the behaviour of the network, be they obtained through a simulation of field measurements. The system emulates the behaviour of the network during the exchange of information between terminals and uses an emulation device (12) comprising two circuit blocks (20, 30) able, respectively, the first to process the information according to time sequences corresponding to those of mobile networks, the second one to exchange information between the terminals connected to suitable interfaces (35, 36). Thanks to the architecture described above it is possible to emulate uplink and downlink functions of the mobile network, making perceptible on the terminals the effects of the behaviour of the network in the various operating conditions.
