  • Publication number: 20090045015
Abstract: A portable apparatus for lifting a television to be mounted on a wall has a base frame assembly with at least three support members, and a connecting member that is connected to a first end of a first support member, and a first end of a second support member and a first end of a third support member are pivotally connected to the base frame support member. A mast assembly having at least two segments is removably connected to the connecting member of the base frame assembly, and a trolley device is removably engaged with the mast assembly, where the trolley is capable of translating along the length of the mast assembly. A electronic device holding assembly that has at least two support arms, and a cross-member to which the support arms are connected, is removably engaged with the trolley, and a driving mechanism causes the trolley to translate along the length of the mast assembly. Thus, a flat screen television can be readily installed on a wall by operating the apparatus of the invention.

  • Patent number: 6394441
Abstract: Folding of stapled documents is accomplished by using magnetic force to manipulate the document. The magnetic force is applied to the staples in the document and results in movement of the document when the magnetic force is applied. Since the magnetic force is applied at the staples, paper handling operations, such as folding are accomplished with the document aligned in accordance with a staple line. Magnetic force can further be used to transport documents to desired locations, such as individual output bins.

  • Patent number: 6251054
Abstract: A post-processing mechanism for a printer or the like includes a curved paper path. Post-processing operations such as stapling or other binding are performed either within the curved paper path or during the withdrawal of a document from the curved paper path. The curved paper path permits such post-processing operations to be performed within a limited space, while reducing the complexity of the post-processing mechanism and reducing the complexity of operations performed by the post-processing mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6227531
Abstract: A method is provided for identifying individual output jobs from an output stack, each output job including a stack of one or more individual sheets. The method includes the steps of: providing a sheet handling device having a sheet delivery device and an output tray, the sheet delivery device operative to move individual sheets from the sheet handling device to the output tray; delivering an output job with the sheet delivery device to the output tray; and delivering a job separation page with the sheet delivery device to the output tray, the job separation page stacked adjacent the output job such that an offset portion of the job separation page extends outwardly of an adjacent edge of the output job; wherein the job separation page is operative to identify one end of the adjacent output job.

  • Patent number: 5942751
Abstract: An optical shutter encoder provides a mechanism for monitoring a state condition of an apparatus. A shutter assembly is adapted to have an aperture that varies with the changing state of the apparatus feature being monitored. An optical emitter and detector are provided to sample the condition of the shutter, that is, to determine if it is open, partially closed, or fully closed. The shutter condition is indicative of the state condition. A series of encoders is provided to monitor repetitive devices of the apparatus; the emitter and detector pair are moved to sequentially sample each shutter, thus providing the state condition of each repetitive device of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5692747
Abstract: A sheet sorting apparatus for depositing a sheet from a printer in one of a plurality of output trays. The apparatus has a pair of rollers that moves the sheet, leading edge first, out of the printer. As the sheet exits the rollers, it encounters a deflector. Depending on the position of the deflector, the sheet either moves into a first output tray or to a flipper assembly. The flipper assembly inverts the sheet so that trailing edge of the sheet exits the flipper assembly before the leading edge of a sheet. A continuous belt removes the sheet from the flipper assembly trailing edge first. Finally, a distribution head, which is movable along the continuous belt, is positioned adjacent to the one of a plurality of output trays prior to the arrival of the sheet. The distribution head then removes the sheet from the belt and directs it to the output tray.

  • Patent number: 5415390
Abstract: A cut sheet stacking system receives and stacks cut sheets in registry against intersecting registration surfaces. The system comprises a sheet support surface, and first and second planar registration surfaces which extend upwardly from the sheet support surface and intersect to form a 90.degree. angle of intersection therebetween. A roller having a flexible tab is rotatably mounted above the sheet support surface and is positioned to frictionally engage a topmost sheet of a stack on the sheet support surface. The roller/tab exerts a force on the topmost sheet in a direction that intersects the first and second planar registration surfaces at their point of intersection and, when rotated, imparts forces on the topmost sheet which directs it towards the intersecting first and second planar registration surfaces.
