  • Patent number: 8842323
Abstract: A print engine for producing printed output according to image data in a print job includes in its user interface an activation element for printing a part of the image data in a selected print job using currently applicable calibration data. After inspection of the printed output the selected print job may be finished without further calibration or it may be finished after a calibration is performed. This calibration of the intensity of the process colors is performed for a job control value that occurs within the selected print job. Therefore the effect of the calibration is directly visible to the user of the print engine.

  • Patent number: 8488138
Abstract: A method for composing a global histogram of the values of the pixels of a hardcopy original includes a division of a detection area, which may be larger than the original, in stripes. For each of the stripes, a local histogram is made, which is added to a candidate histogram. If the decision is made from the values of the local histogram that a stripe belongs to the original, the candidate histogram is added to the global histogram. In this way, a representative histogram of the original is obtained, even if the white pixels from the original are indiscernible from the white pixels from the cover of the scanner. The method is embodied in an electronic component, including an application specific processing unit.

  • Publication number: 20090141307
Abstract: A document scanning system includes a scan apparatus adapted to scan a document and to create and store electronic raw data representing the scanned document. An input system permits a user to input settings for the scanned document. A start mechanism causes the scan apparatus to start a scan process. A a processing unit is adapted to process the raw data and to create a formatted document file representing the scanned document. The input system is adapted to permit the user to input format settings for a document after the start mechanism has started the scan process for that document, and the processing unit is adapted to process the raw data in accordance with the format settings.
