Abstract: A portable mechanical ironing machine comprising a base supporting a fixed lower ironing plate, and a head hinged to the base and carrying a movable upper ironing plate. Compression spring devices are provided for applying ironing pressure to the movable upper ironing plate when it is in the closed position, and to pull the upper ironing plate towards the open position when the movable upper ironing plate is raised with respect to the fixed ironing plate. The spring devices are supported by a spring support which is movable between two stable positions, those positions being angularly offset with respect to each other. The ironing machine also comprises a handle pivoted to the head, and the handle is connected to the spring support for the compression spring devices by means of a kinematic connecting rod and crank mechanism. The connecting rod is pivoted to a fork which is pivoted at one end to the base and coupled at the other end to the spring support by means of a slot and pin coupling.

Abstract: The cams controlling the operation of sewing machines, in particular for selection of the type of sewing stitch, are made on a single support which can be replaced by removal from a special housing in the sewing machine and locked in operative position.

Abstract: An automatic ironing press comprising a bedplate (2), a fixed ironing plate (3) fastened to said bedplate, a pressing arm (4) swingably mounted onto said bedplate (2), and an ironing plate (6), heated and pivotally mounted to the arm (4), wherein an assembly of toggle levers (13, 14, 16) cooperating with a toothed sector (7) driven by motor means, is provided. The toggle assembly is provided with spring means (18) and causes the arm (4) to be closed with a constant pressing force, independently from the thickness of the material undergoing the ironing operation.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for fabricating and assembling a sewing machine hook shaft and hook body by which the required critically accurate shapes may be attained in a particularly cost effective manner.
