Abstract: A tamper-evident container includes a base and a lid with a closure portion includes a lip flange and a base flange. When the lid is secured to and closed over the base, the lid flange and the base flange rest adjacent to one another. The base flange includes perforations running along the length of the closure portion to divide the base flange into an outer region and an inner region. The lid flange is secured to the outer region of the base flange. When the lid is separated from the base, the lid flange tears away the outer region of the base flange with the assistance of the perforations on the base flange. When the lid is fully separated from the base, the lid flange carries the outer region of the base to avoid a separate member that needs to be thrown away.

Abstract: A tray is configured for supporting a product between the tray and a film extending over the tray. The tray has a bottom wall located at a lower end of the tray. The bottom wall has a peripheral edge. Side walls extend upwardly from the bottom wall. Each side wall has an upper edge at an upper end of the tray. A rim is located at the upper end of the tray, and is connected to the upper edge of the side walls. The rim extends horizontally outwardly from the upper edge of the side walls. A skirt depends downwardly from the rim, and is spaced outwardly from the side walls. The skirt is configured so the skirt can be bent inwardly when a film is held in tension around the skirt of the tray.

Abstract: A novel and unique container of a general clamshell configuration with a self-aligning lid is provided. The hinge of the container provides a hinged connection between the lid and the base of the container. The hinge includes pins that extend into corresponding receiving slots on the base that align the lid in the X and Y directions over the open top end of the base as the lid is pivoted closed. With the lid aligned on the base, downward pressure in the Z direction results in better and more reliable frictional engagement of the lid to the base. As a result, the container with self-aligning lid is particularly well-suited for use in automatic machinery for filling and closing such containers.

The lid portions are secured to the base in a closed position by locking recesses on the lid portions that engage locking formations on the upper peripheral edge. A groove on one lid portion engages a groove on another lid portion to form a seal where the lid portions overlap. Venting channels formed on the locking formations allow air to pass in and out of the container, but prevent liquids from entering the container. Arched ridges on the container's sidewalls increase the container's rigidity and resistance to top loading.

A lid resides in communication with the top peripheral edge of the base to releasably close the top end of the base. The integrated arches provide reinforcement to the base of the container to increase top load resistance without increasing the thickness of the material used.
