  • Publication number: 20240174061
Abstract: An open-roof assembly for a vehicle roof comprises a moveably arranged closure member having a drive assembly and a control unit with a pinch detection unit. The pinch detection unit comprises a first pinch detection system, a second pinch detection system and a predetermined reference. Each of the first and second pinch detection systems comprises a tracker module configured to compare the movement of the closure member and the reference, the tracker module allowing a tolerance between movement and reference; a deviation module configured to determine a deviation, if the tolerance is exceeded; and pinch determination module configured to determine that a pinch occurs, if the deviation in movement exceeds a threshold. The tolerance of the first pinch detection system is smaller than the tolerance of the second pinch detection system. The threshold of the first pinch detection system is higher that the threshold of the second pinch detection system.

  • Patent number: 11479093
Abstract: A method for positioning a movably arranged panel comprises the steps of determining a panel braking distance based on a physical property of the moveable panel and a physical property of at least one of a drive assembly and a drive motor. The panel braking distance corresponds to a distance covered by the moveable panel in a period of time starting from a decision to switch off the drive motor until stand-still of the moveable panel. The drive motor is switched off when an expected stop position is within a predetermined range around a desired stop position.

  • Publication number: 20220186545
Abstract: A control unit for operating a moveably arranged closure member of an open roof assembly comprises at least one computing resource for executing a computing process. The control unit is configured to interrupt a running first computing process and to execute a second computing process for controlling at least a part of a closing movement of the closure member. The first computing process may be restarted when the closing movement is stopped.

  • Publication number: 20210254386
Abstract: An open roof assembly for use in a vehicle roof of a vehicle comprises a movably arranged closure member for closing an opening in the vehicle roof and a pinch detection module for detecting a pinch of an object between the closure member and an edge of the opening. The pinch detection module is operatively coupled to receive an input signal and is configured to detect the pinch based on said input signal and a threshold. The pinch detection module is configured to dynamically determine the threshold based on the input signal.

  • Publication number: 20210178871
Abstract: An open roof assembly for use in a vehicle roof comprises a moveably arranged closure member and a drive system operatively coupled to the closure member for moving the closure member along a motion trajectory. The drive system comprises an electric motor and a control unit for controlling operation of the electric motor. The control unit comprises a mathematical model describing at least a part of the drive system; model parameters and a motion reference field. The control unit is configured to update the model parameters based on a received value of a first drive system variable; determine a value of a second drive system variable using the mathematical model; determine a comparison value by comparing the value of the second drive system value and a corresponding reference value of the motion reference field; and detect presence of an obstruction if the comparison value lies outside a predetermined value range.

  • Publication number: 20210148154
Abstract: A vehicle roof assembly comprises an electronic control circuitry and at least one sensor operatively coupled to the electronic control circuitry. An output of the sensor exhibits hysteresis. A method of operating the vehicle roof assembly comprises performing a sensor power-down sequence. The sensor power-down sequence of steps comprises switching off the sensor; switching on the sensor; detecting the output of the sensor; storing the output of the sensor in a memory; and switching off the sensor. The method prevents inadvertent position drift due to hysteresis effects during a power toggle.
