  • Patent number: 7584174
Abstract: The invention proposes a directory server system having a master server and a non-master server, each server being capable of storing directory server data comprising updates. The master server is capable of sending selected updates to the non-master server, and the non-master server (512) has: a dependency checker (5224) operable for determining whether each update received from the master server (510) depends on other updates among the selected updates, and if not for sending the update to an update application function (5220), the update application function being operable for applying the updates received from the dependency checker in the non-master server directory server data.

  • Patent number: 7340488
Abstract: A directory server system may include master servers and a non-master server, each server storing directory server data that includes updates, each update having a creation time. The master servers exchange replicate updates through update communications. Each master server may include an update state builder for maintaining local update state items including an estimate time indication related to update communications received by the local master server about the directory server data stored by the designated master server. A master server may also include an upper time builder for evaluating an upper time value that is the earliest one of the estimate time indications in the local update state items. A master server may also include a master-to-non-master replicate function, for sending to the non-master server the updates in the local directory server data which have an associated creation time no later than the upper time value.

  • Publication number: 20040230615
Abstract: The invention proposes a master server, for use in a directory server system having other master servers and a non-master server, each server being capable of storing directory server data, comprising updates, each update having a creation time. • Patent number: 6539482
Abstract: A network access authentication system including a directory service containing a remote access password and a standard access password for each user of the network, using an authentication protocol that provides information on whether a user is accessing the network locally of remotely, and including a front-end between the directory service and the authentication protocol. The front-end executes the steps of: receiving a user identifier and a user password entered by a user through said authentication protocol; retrieving from the directory service the remote access password and the standard access password corresponding to the user identifier; if the authentication protocol indicates a remote access, comparing the user password to the remote access password, else comparing the user password to the standard access password; and granting access to the network if the comparing step is successful.

  • Patent number: 6249530
Abstract: A method and mechanism for controlling network bandwidth by dynamically determing a current window size for a destination buffer. A first window size is determined for the destination buffer at a first time. Then, a current window size is determined a second time as a function of the first window size, a desired bandwidth value, and a bandwidth used between the first time and the second time. A desired bandwidth for a particular connection is achieved by an adaptive or delta-based approach rather than by use of round trip time (RTT) computations. Bandwidth control can be achieved by a software or a hardware bandwidth control mechanism. Possible applications of the bandwidth control is in a server or a quality of service unit.
