  • Publication number: 20230195306
Abstract: Ergonomic keyboard-less typing may be used to replace traditional typing on a computer keyboard. The user may use an alternative user interface device, such as a smart phone, a tablet, or a wearable device, to make character selections. One of a plurality of user contact types may be received from an input interface, to provide a first indication of the character inputs the user would like to select. A display menu, generated at least in part based on the contact type received, may then present a plurality of gesture types, and one or more characters corresponding to each of the plurality of gesture types. A second indication of one of the plurality of gesture types may be received at the input interface. A selection of one or more characters may then be displayed based on the received first indication and the received second indication.

  • Patent number: 10817589
Abstract: A system for improving patient compliance with a prescription drug regimen is described. The system includes a patient database for storing patient information, the information including contact information for a patient communication device (such as a telephone, cell phone, computer, or PDA) along with a method for communicating with that device. The system further includes an alert database for storing information about prescription reminder alerts to be sent to patients. A send program running on a computer retrieves information about prescription reminder alerts from the alert database and transmits the prescription reminder alerts to a patient communications device over a communications network using the contact information and contact method stored in the patient database.

  • Patent number: 8108347
Abstract: This invention relates to managing multiple web servers, and more particularly to a web service system and method that allows a system operator to distribute content to each web server in the web service system. In one embodiment, a method for replicating changes in a source file set on a destination file system includes identifying changes in a source file set, storing the identified changes in a modification list, and transmitting the modification list to an agent having access to a destination file system. In another embodiment, a method for replicating changes in a source file set on a destination file system includes identifying changes in a source file set, storing the identified changes in a modification list, and transmitting the modification list to a plurality of web servers.

  • Publication number: 20110313824
Abstract: A method of motivating crowd-sourcing of performance playlists. Two or more users may initiate an exchange of metadata related to playlists via playlist managing software modules running on each of their mobile devices. The users may then receive a reward for having initiated the exchange. The reward may be in the form of a position on a leader board, a level of achievement, an unlocking of an achievement, a badge acknowledging an achievement, a designation of a title an amount of points or some combination thereof. The initiation of the exchange may itself include a game like element and may require each of the mobile devices to be in the same geographical location, and then have the users, simultaneously move them in a predetermined pattern such as a shaking motion.

  • Publication number: 20110314061
Abstract: A computer implemented method of sharing preferences of selections of digital material that may be related to an activity of mutual interest to two or more individuals. The method may first determine a user's preferred parameter space by combining a set of preferred ranges as they relate to each of a set of attributes by sampling selections made by the user when using a particular device. This may then be used to find in-range material among a second user's selections and metadata related to the material exchanged, including a location of a digital mechanical. The application module may also create subject vectors that are linear array of tags that are relevant to music, for each user. These subject vectors may be compared in order to create a combined user subject vector. This may be used to suggest further selections.

  • Publication number: 20110307362
Abstract: A method of accounting for the consumption of digital material. By facilitating a dynamically sourced, streaming performance of digital material and then reporting the occurrence of the performance and the audience that was estimated to be listening to the performance, a performance value may be assessed, and the rights holders informed. The audience may then be billed and the digital material rights holder compensated. In response to a request for a performance of digital material, a performance device may be provided a location of a mechanical containing the material. The performance device may then stream a performance of the digital material without providing copyable access to the digital material mechanical. The streamed performance is accounted for, making the nature and location of the performance mechanical irrelevant.

  • Publication number: 20110015939
Abstract: Provided are systems and methods to create patient log entries using open-ended electronic messaging (e.g. email, text messaging, IM). The systems and methods allow users to update a patient log using widely available communication devices (e.g. cell phones or internet) without the devices needing to have web access and/or to use tailor-made applications. The invention also allows users to update the patient log with limited or no upfront training and describes methods to share the patient data among users using various interfaces. Main system components are: input/output communication interfaces, servers, database, and logic (software) to operate the methods tailored to specific user needs.

  • Patent number: 7581006
Abstract: A system for serving web pages manages a plurality of web servers. The system provides an operator with features and tools to coordinate the operation of the multiple web servers. The system may manage traffic by directing web page requests to available web servers and balancing the web page request service load among the multiple servers. The system may collect data on web page requests and web server responses to those web page requests, and provide reporting of the data as well as automatic and manual analysis tools. The system may monitor for specific events, and may act automatically upon the occurrence of such events. The events may include predictions or thresholds that indicate impending system crises. The system may include crisis management capability to provide automatic error recovery, and to guide a system operator through the possible actions that can be taken to recover from events such as component failure or network environment problems.

  • Publication number: 20090113008
Abstract: Systems and methods for sending health care alerts or reminders to patients, such as a reminder to visit the doctor, be vaccinated, or undergo a therapy. The alerts and reminders may be delivered to the patient's cell phone, PDA, or computer, for example. The system manages information of patients and/or caregivers who are eligible for a vaccine or therapy, but have not contacted their health care professional yet for an appointment or taken the vaccine. The system serves to increase the number of patients who will undertake a desired action to which the alert/reminder was directed, such as getting a vaccine, visiting the doctor, or obtaining the remainder of one's therapy, medication, or vaccine.

  • Publication number: 20080177574
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for setting up and sending healthcare alerts (e.g. immunization reminders) to patients/caregivers through the use of communications devices. In an embodiment, information about a patient's/caregiver's wireless device (e.g. cell phones) is collected and reported to an immunization registry. The registry is linked to a system that uses the wireless device information to generate automatic wireless immunization reminders, recalls and educational messages that are sent to the patient/caregiver. In a preferred embodiment, opt-in information is reported to the system to ensure that the patient/caregiver has consented to the automatic wireless immunization reminders. The system may also check the eligibility of patients to receive reminders, provide incentives for patients to receive reminders, provide follow up information (e.g.
