  • Patent number: 9300571
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide method and apparatus for managing multicast traffic in a domain, such as a G.hn domain. A method includes storing, at a first node of a domain, a plurality of next nodes for transmitting messages in the domain, forwarding, from the first node to the plurality of next nodes, a probe message transmitted from a second node in response to a request from a third node to join a group to receive a multicast flow that enters the domain from the second node, and storing, at the first node, a list of nodes in association with the multicast flow. The list of nodes is determined at least in part based on a path through which the probe message is transmitted from the second node to the third node.

  • Patent number: 9060041
Abstract: A message is received at a communication interface device coupled to a first media type. A second layer (e.g., a dynamic link layer (DLL)) on the communication interface device communicates with an abstraction layer (AL) regarding relaying of the message. The AL determines whether another communication interface device should relay the message via a second media type. When the AL determines that another communication interface device cannot or should not relay the message, the communication interface device relays the message using relaying functionality provided by the second layer (e.g., the DLL). When the AL determines that another communication interface device should relay the message, the AL forwards the message to the other the communication interface device for relaying via the second media type.

  • Patent number: 9054787
Abstract: A method includes detecting, at a first timing with reference to a periodic signal that is common to a first domain and a second domain, a first signal indicative of the first domain. The first signal is used by the first domain to signal presence of the first domain and a time used by the first domain for inter domain communication with other domains. Further, the method includes comparing, the first timing to a second timing with reference to the periodic signal. The second domain uses a second signal at the second timing to signal presence of the second domain and a time used by the second domain for inter domain communication with other domains. Then, the method includes aligning the first signal and the second signal to enable inter domain communication between the first domain and the second domain.

  • Patent number: 8942260
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining time delays of networks are disclosed. For example, a method for determining a time delay of a network having i) a transmitting node and ii) a receiving node, wherein each of the transmitting node and the receiving node comprises a Data Link Layer (DLL), a management layer, and a Physical Layer (PHY) is disclosed. The method includes determining a time that the first packet was received by the transmitting node, forwarding the time that the first packet was received to the management layer of the transmitting node; forwarding information in the first packet to the transmitting node; and determining the time delay of the network by subtracting the time the time that the first packet was received by the DLL of the transmitting node from a transmit time provided via the management layer of the receiving node.

  • Publication number: 20140233576
Abstract: A device including a first node configured to communicate, over a first connection, with a second node and a third node in a network. The first node includes a first network layer associated with a first communication domain. The first communication domain corresponds to the first connection. A second network layer is associated with the first communication domain and a second communication domain. The first communication domain and the second communication domain are different. The first network layer is configured to receive, from the second node, a data packet to be relayed to the third node, in a first mode, forward the data packet to the third node, and in a second mode, selectively provide the data packet to the second network layer. The second network layer is configured to, in the second mode, forward the data packet to the third node.

  • Publication number: 20130331094
Abstract: In a method of processing data in a communication device operating in a heterogeneous communication network, data is transferred between a first communication interface within the communication device and an upper protocol layer via a first abstraction layer (AL) processing unit. The first AL processing unit is dedicated to the first communication interface. Additionally, data is transferred between the first AL processing unit and a second AL processing unit within the communication device via an interface between the first AL processing unit and the second AL processing unit. The first AL processing unit is dedicated to a second communication interface within the communication device.

  • Patent number: 4249519
Abstract: A solar collector of generally improved design is provided wherein the collector element comprises a flat absorber plate formed of two sheets of a conductive metal treated in a bonding process under heat and pressure with portions of the sheets spaced in such a way as to provide a sinuous passage from one end of the collector to the other with flat portions of the plate between said passages. The collector has a double glazing over the absorber plate to provide an air space between the sheets of glass and between the glazing and the absorber plate. A feature of the invention is in the fabrication of the collector utilizing novel metal extruded frame members combined with wood frame members. This combination provides an effective means for sealing the elements against the weather and for holding the various elements in correct alignment as well as resisting loads of snow or sleet.
