  • Patent number: 11399739
Abstract: Described are apparatuses (e.g., devices, systems, software), and methods for monitoring the cardiac health of a patient which incorporates secondary information. The apparatus may be a heart rate monitor, a blood pressure monitor, an ECG or other biometric device in communication with an electronic device having communication ability. The devices detect a cardiac or other biometric measurement and correlate the detected information with secondary information, such as GPS data, to produce a contextualized measurement.

  • Publication number: 20210092097
Abstract: A cybersecurity system for use in a process plant provides whitelisting of device specific and common practice HART read commands in process controllers and safety controllers to perform communications in a process plant that are very secure, but that still enable the implementation of advanced functionality provided in HART devices. A whitelist implementation application applies one or more whitelists in a security gateway device to determine if messages, such as HART messages, should be allowed or processed. A whitelist learning application automatically creates and configures whitelists through the use of a lock/learn mode, and a whitelist configuration application discovers Device Specific and Common Practice HART commands by issuing device description requests to specific devices, parsing the response, and communicating the whitelist configuration information with the parsed command types to the relevant process controllers and safety controllers for use in the whitelists.

  • Patent number: 10480521
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for detecting and preventing compressor surge. A transmitter determines a derivative process value of a compressor. A controller obtains the derivative process value from the transmitter. The transmitter is separate from the controller. The controller compares the derivative process value to a threshold value. The threshold value is indicative of the initiation of a surge event in the compressor. In response to determining that the derivative process value fails to satisfy the threshold value, the controller actuates a valve operatively coupled to the compressor to enable an additional derivative process value of the compressor determined by the transmitter to satisfy the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 10153898
Abstract: A wireless mesh network provides secure communication by encrypting data using one or more encryption keys. A configuration device in communication with a security manager of the network provides a temporary secure communication path between the security manager and a new field device to be added to the mesh network. Cryptographic material and other configuration data can then be transferred between the security manager of the network and the new field device securely via the configuration device.

  • Patent number: 10064052
Abstract: Devices and methods are described to enable devices to be paired in a convenient and secure way based on proximity with the use of a single radio transmission protocol. Using devices configurable to perform the processes described, users are able to pair Bluetooth enabled devices or other radio communication protocols simply by putting the devices briefly in contact, or within close proximity, usually few centimeters. When the two devices touch or are in close proximity, the encryption key is shared across the two devices without further interaction required by the user. The encryption key is not made visible, so one potential source of security breach is eliminated. After first setup, proximity is not required and the device can communicate securely based on the previously exchanged security tokens (and encryption keys) without the requirement of proximity.

  • Patent number: 9747097
Abstract: Device segmentation systems and methods enable devices to be manufactured and placed into the stream of commerce without customization for a particular retailer. The customization occurs at a later point in time when the device is activated after sale. This allows devices to be transferred among retailers without the additional expense of re-customizing the device.
