  • Publication number: 20240182270
Abstract: A shaft door for an elevator has a door guard arrangement that includes a force sensor and a safety switch, wherein the force sensor comprises a contact unit and a spring mechanism with a spring. The force sensor senses a presence of an object clamped by the shaft door due to the shaft door closing wherein the contact element contacts the clamped object and transfers a force to the spring. The spring mechanism activates the safety switch to send a door-to-open command to a door operator of the elevator when the force transferred to the spring exceeds a stiffness of the spring.

  • Publication number: 20240182082
Abstract: In various examples, policy planning using behavior models for autonomous and semi-autonomous systems and applications is described herein. Systems and methods are disclosed that determine a policy for navigating a vehicle, such as a semi-autonomous vehicle or an autonomous vehicle (or other machine), where the policy allows for multistage reasoning that leverages future reactive behaviors of one or more other objects. For instance, a first behavior model (e.g., a trajectory tree) may be generated that represents candidate trajectories for the vehicle and one or more second behavior models (e.g., one or more scenario trees) may be generated that respectively represent future behaviors of the other object(s). The first behavior model and the second behavior model(s) may then be processed, such as in a closed-loop simulation based on a realistic data-driven traffic model, to determine the policy for navigating the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20240183098
Abstract: A combination washing and drying appliance includes a tub that is disposed within a cabinet. A drum is rotationally operable within the tub about a rotational axis. An airflow path is defined within an interstitial space between the drum and the tub. A blower fan operates to direct process air through the airflow path. The blower fan is disposed within a blower enclosure that is defined by a back wall of the drum and a blower housing that is attached to the tub. Engagement of the back wall of the drum and the blower housing of the tub defines a slidable engagement that is selectively sealed during operation of the blower fan to prevent the process air from leaving the airflow path and to further prevent aspiration of ambient air to the airflow path.

  • Publication number: 20240185156
Abstract: Soil maps are rarely used for the elaboration of road layouts, and there are no known algorithms that incorporate soil information dynamically. The best way to incorporate this knowledge of soils is to interpret the soil maps into a derived (interpreted) map known as the “road, pipelines and operational locations aptitude map”. This study generated an innovative algorithm that incorporates soil aptitude maps for road layouts, pipeline lines and escape routes. The novelty of the algorithm is that this aptitude information (interpreted from a map of soil classes) is collated together with relief and hydrography information. Thus, it is hypothesized that, in addition to the characteristics of the relief and proximity of watercourses, the soil map can help the decision-maker to unveil regions with serious problems that increase the costs of construction and maintenance of roads, pipelines, escape routes and operating locations.
