  • Publication number: 20240040551
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) receives time division duplexing (TDD) configuration information from a master node (MN), with which the UE is communicating using a first band of unlicensed spectrum and receives TDD configuration information from a secondary node (SN), which is being added to support communications with the UE using a second band of unlicensed spectrum. The UE compares the two TDD structures, identifying DL and UL slots in SN TDD structure which correspond to DL and UL time intervals in the MN TDD structure, designating at least some of those SN slots as preferred DL slots and preferred UL slots. The UE communicates information indicating its preferred DL slots and preferred UL slots in an assistance message to the SN. The SN using UE slot preference information, selects DL and UL slots to be used for UE communications and implements a TDD structure, which avoids an IDC problem.

  • Publication number: 20240039682
Abstract: A master node (MN) communicating with a UE using resources of a first band of unlicensed spectrum sends an addition request to a selected secondary node, to request resources for supporting the UE in a second band of unlicensed spectrum. The addition request includes timing information including one or more of: i) information indicating a start time for the MN time division duplexing (TDD) timing structure with respect to the UE, or ii) information indicating a reference clock being used by the MN. The secondary node uses the received timing information from the MN to perform timing alignment at the secondary node. The adjusted timing alignment of the secondary node allows the UE to achieve slot-boundary and/or symbol boundary alignment with regard to MN communications using the first unlicensed spectrum and SN communications using the second unlicensed spectrum. Due to the achieved synchronization, an in-device coexistence (IDC) problem is avoided.

  • Publication number: 20240039565
Abstract: A master node (MN) communicating with a UE using resource of a first band of unlicensed spectrum sends an addition request to a selected secondary node, to request resources for supporting the UE in a second band of unlicensed spectrum. The addition request includes minimum frequency separation information and optionally a baseline reference frequency. The minimum frequency separation information communicated in the addition request, indicates a minimum amount of frequency separation to be maintained between the communication resources in the first band of unlicensed spectrum used for communications with the UE and communication resource in the second band of unlicensed spectrum to be used for communications with the UE. The secondary node selects a channel within the second band of unlicensed spectrum to use for communications with the UE, which will satisfy the minimum frequency separation requirement communicated in the addition request and avoid IDC problems for the UE.

  • Publication number: 20230254076
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for supporting communication, discovery, and use of time division duplex (TDD) configuration information between nearby cells are described. A first base station requests a UE to collect and report back TDD configuration information about another base station, e.g., a neighboring base station, from which the UE receives signals, e.g., broadcast signals above a predetermined signal strength threshold. In some embodiments, the requests are qualified based on one of more of: i) inter or intra operator network, ii) radio access technology (RAT) in use, or iii) frequency band. The first base station utilizes reports, communicating TDD configuration information pertaining to nearby base stations, obtained from one or more UEs, to manage interference, e.g., changing the first base station's current TDD configuration settings, generating a new first base station TDD configuration, and/or deciding whether or not to use a frequency band of shared and/or unlicensed spectrum or licensed spectrum.

  • Patent number: 7861109
Abstract: A method of failure recovery in a network element is disclosed. The method includes indicating to a number of forwarding engines that a forwarding engine has completed a switchover operation and causing at least one of the forwarding engines to acknowledge that the forwarding engine has completed the switchover operation in response to the indication.

  • Patent number: 6973074
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting voice, voiceband data and phone signaling is described. Analog voice, voiceband data and phone signaling are converted into their corresponding digitized version. The digital voice, digitized voiceband data, and digitized phone signaling may be transported as AAL2 packets via an LAN that follows an LAN protocol that supports levels of transmission priority. The LAN protocol may be, for example, HomePNA. The packets may be formatted in a manner similar to other networking protocols for transmitting digitized voice, digitized voiceband data and digitized phone signaling, such as AAL2. The use of AAL2 packets instead of voice over IP packets and techniques allows use of simpler less costly components and a straightforward interworking at the residential gateway device connected to the WAN via DSL using the emerging loop emulation service.

  • Patent number: 6343083
Abstract: Method for managing connections on a connection-oriented network such as an ATM network, for use with devices communicating according to a connectionless communication protocol such as IP over Ethernet. Roughly described, a bridging network element (BNE) resides at the ATM point-of-presence through which a data network accesses the ATM network. When the BNE receives an internet ARP (IARP) request from the data network for forwarding onto the ATM network, it forwards it instead to an IARP server. In addition to responding to the IARP request, the IARP server also regards the IARP request as a trigger, and in response thereto, causes the ATM network to establish a connection between the BNE point-of-presence and another point-of-presence on the ATM network through which the target address can be reached.
