Abstract: A method for determining porosity associated with organic matter (PAOM) in a well or formation is provided. A system for performing the method is also provided.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 6, 2016
    Publication date: March 16, 2017
    Applicant: Ingrain, Inc.
Inventors: Joel Walls, Anyela Morcote, Yaoming Mu, Marcus Ganz
  • Patent number: 9372162
Abstract: A method and a system are provided to characterize subterranean formations, which includes extracting drill cuttings from a drilling fluid, and grouping the drill cuttings into a group of cuttings based on a time of arrival of the drill cuttings at the Earth's surface, wherein these steps can be repeated at least once to provide a plurality of groups of drill cuttings that arrive sequentially at different recorded times that correspond to different downhole locations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 14, 2012
Date of Patent: June 21, 2016
    Assignee: Ingrain, Inc.
    Inventor: Marcus Ganz
  • Patent number: 9201026
Abstract: A method for estimating properties of porous media, such as fine pore or tight rocks, is provided. The method comprises digital image scanning of sequential sub-samples of porous media at progressively higher resolution to systematically identify sub-sections of interest within the original sample and then estimate properties of the porous media. The resulting properties of the porous media then can be optionally upscaled to further estimate the properties of larger volumes of the porous media such as rock facies or subterranean reservoirs. A system operable for conducting the method also is provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 26, 2013
Date of Patent: December 1, 2015
    Assignee: Ingrain, Inc.
Inventors: Joel Walls, Elizabeth Diaz, Michael Suhrer, Boaz Nur, Avrami Grader, Gustavo Carpio, Timothy Cavanaugh, Marcus Ganz
