Patent number: 11048095Abstract: A method of controlling a head-up display (HUD) of a vehicle to adjust the vertical position of a light bundle generated by the HUD to match an eye of a vehicle driver. A camera is operated to capture an image of a head of the vehicle driver reflected in a combiner of the head-up display. An electronic processor analyzes the image captured by the camera and determines a position of a driver's eye. The processor controls operation of an electric motor to automatically adjust the position of the combiner to align a light bundle or eyebox generated by the projector and reflected by the combiner with the eye position determined by the processor.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2016Date of Patent: June 29, 2021Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Matus Banyay, Marcus Haefner

Patent number: 10035419Abstract: The disclosure relates to a head-up display for a vehicle. The head-up display includes a combiner screen that is arranged between a viewer and a window pane of the vehicle. The combiner screen reflects an image, which is generated by an image generating and imaging device at a front-side reflection surface, which faces the viewer, to the viewer. The viewer can perceive the generated image as an imaginary image located behind the combiner screen. A polarization filter is attached on a rearward side, which is remote from the viewer, of the reflection surface of the combiner screen.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2016Date of Patent: July 31, 2018Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Matus Banyay, Marcus Haefner

Publication number: 20170060235Abstract: The invention relates to a method for capturing fixations and viewing movements of the driver of a vehicle with a head-up display by way of observation using a camera (6) that receives an image of the head (2) of the driver which is reflected by a combiner (3) of the head-up display. According to the invention, at least some of the information displayed to the driver using the head-up display is selected depending on the fixations and viewing movements of the driver.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Applicant: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Matus BANYAY, Marcus HAEFNER

Publication number: 20160363765Abstract: A head-up display (HUD) device for a motor vehicle has a projector generating a polarized light signal directed at a display surface (such as a windshield or separate combiner plate) for viewing by a driver of the vehicle. A light sensor is disposed adjacent to the projector to detect and measure the intensity of ambient light entering the vehicle and control the intensity of the light generated by the projector in dependence on the measured ambient light intensity. The light sensor is fitted with a polarization filter that is cross-polarized relative to the polarization of the light generated by the projector so that the intensity of the ambient light reaching the sensor is independent of the intensity of the light emitted by the projector.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2016Publication date: December 15, 2016Inventors: Marcus HAEFNER, Matus BANYAY

Patent number: 7494441Abstract: A selector lever arrangement for an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle includes a selector lever which is pivotable about a pivot axis and has the purpose of generating a selector movement. It also includes connecting mechanism for transferring the selector movement to the automatic transmission, and a connecting arrangement for transmitting the selector movement from the selector lever to the connecting mechanism. The connecting arrangement includes a planetary gear mechanism. The selector lever is connected to the input side of the planetary gear mechanism and the connecting mechanism is connected to the output side of the planetary gear mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2006Date of Patent: February 24, 2009Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventor: Marcus Haefner

Publication number: 20060219041Abstract: The invention relates to a selector lever arrangement (1) for an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle having a selector lever (2) which is pivotable about a pivot axis (a) and has the purpose of generating a selector movement (w), connecting means (3) for transferring the selector movement (w) to the automatic transmission and a connecting arrangement (4) for transmitting the selector movement (w) from the selector lever (2) to the connecting means (3). With the objective of providing a selector lever arrangement (1) which is of compact design, whose connecting means (3) may be arranged at a desired height and which avoids a reversal of the selector movement (w), it is proposed that the connecting arrangement (4) has a planetary gear mechanism (5), the selector lever (2) being connected to the input side of the planetary gear mechanism (5) and the connecting means (3) being connected to the output side of the planetary gear mechanism (5).Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2006Publication date: October 5, 2006Inventor: Marcus Haefner
