  • Publication number: 20160310196
Abstract: According to an embodiment, an inserter for installing a medical device via rotation in a recipient is disclosed. The inserter includes a longitudinal member adapted to rotate around a member axis, the longitudinal member comprising a first end and a second end. A grip unit at the first end is provided. The grip unit is adapted to grip the medical device. A shank member proximal to the second end is also provided. The shank member is adapted to engage with a drive unit that is adapted to provide a rotational force to the longitudinal member such that the gripped medical device is rotated around the member axis. The inserter includes an indicator unit adapted to provide a visual indication of number of turns of the longitudinal member when driven by the drive unit.

  • Patent number: 8949113
Abstract: A method of operating an audio processing device to improve a user's perception of an input sound includes defining a critical frequency fcrit between a low frequency range and a high frequency range, receiving an input sound by the audio processing device, and analyzing the input sound in a number of frequency bands below and above the critical frequency. The method also includes defining a cut-off frequency fcut below the critical frequency fcrit, identifying a source frequency band above the cut-off frequency fcut, and extracting an envelope of the source band. Further, the method identifying a corresponding target band below the critical frequency fcrit, extracting a phase of the target band, and combining the envelope of the source band with the phase of the target band.

  • Patent number: 8526647
Abstract: A listening device includes an ear-part for being worn in or at an ear of a user, a microphone system including at least two microphones each converting an input sound to an electrical microphone signal, and a TF-conversion unit for providing a time-frequency representation of the at least two microphone signals. Each signal representation includes complex or real values of the signal in a particular time-frequency unit. The listening device also includes a DIR-unit with a directionality system providing a weighted sum of the at least two electrical microphone signals thereby providing at least two directional microphone signals having maximum sensitivity in spatially different directions and a combined microphone signal. Each time-frequency unit of the combined signal is attributable to a particular direction. A frequency shaping-unit modifies one or more selected time-frequency units to indicate directional cues of input sounds providing an improved directional output signal.

  • Publication number: 20130175119
Abstract: A collapsible ladder (100), comprises a number of tube portions (210, 220, 310, 320) having various diameters and being telescopically insertable into one another. The upper end of a first tube portion (210, 310) is connected to one end of a ladder step (230, 330) and the other end of the ladder step (230, 330) is fastened to an upper end of a second tube portion (220, 320) having the same diameter as the first tube portion (210, 310). The first (210, 310) and second tube portions (220, 320) and the ladder step (230, 330) form a ladder section (200, 300), the tube sections of which being insertable into an adjacent ladder section comprising tube portions having a larger diameter, wherein the ladder sections may be mutually interlocked by interaction between pins (280) located in the ladder steps (230, 330) and openings provided in the tube portions of a neighboring ladder section.

  • Publication number: 20110249843
Abstract: The application relates to a method of improving a user's perception of an input sound. The application further relates to an audio processing device and to its use. The object of the present application is to increase the sound quality of a sound signal as perceived by a user, e.g. a hearing impaired user. The method comprises a) Defining a critical frequency fcrit between a low frequency range and a high frequency range; b) Analyzing an input sound in a number of frequency bands below and above said critical frequency; c) Defining a cut-off frequency fcut below said critical frequency fcrit; d) Identifying a source frequency band above said cut-off frequency fcut; e) Extracting the envelope of said source band; f) Identifying a corresponding target band below said critical frequency fcrit; g) Extracting the phase of said target band; h) Combining the envelope of said source band with the phase of said target band.
