  • Publication number: 20140025222
Abstract: An improved system for power monitoring and control is an aftermarket method for improving power monitoring and control in end-user environments such as offices and homes. The disclosed is a wirelessly connected panel that monitors and/or controls power passed through a power interface and is intrinsically paired with that interface. The system uses an ultra low power panel that is associated with its power interface. The system can be detached and located at a distant remote location. The radio link is used to maintain control automatically paired with the power interface connection it is physically associated with. The panel and system use a hopping meshed radio network to insure full range of coverage within a building.

  • Patent number: 8428394
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for resolving complete free space orientation of an active receiving device at high speed using simple optics, trigonometry, simple circuitry, and using minimal processing power. The rapid triangulation of distance from the emitters, as well as resolution of rotational orientation, are determined by changing the contrast level in an infrared spectrum and by using wide angle lenses with greater than 180 degree hemispherical viewing angles. Furthermore, the system consists of an optional accelerometer, resident on the receiver, to dynamically adjust the image sensor frame rate.

  • Publication number: 20110082390
Abstract: A system for detecting actuation pressure is provided, where actuation pressure is a pressure above a pre-defined limit on the surface of a body of a user. The system includes a multi-layered pad of flexible materials which remains in contact with the surface of the body while complying with the shape of the surface of the body. The system also includes a plurality of pressure detection zones. The plurality of pressure detection zones is located on the multi-layered pad to detect actuation pressure on the surface of the body.

  • Patent number: 7898708
Abstract: A system and method for creating a three-dimensional (“3D”) volumetric display using a linear array of active point light sources and projecting those points on a mirrored surface. The linear image is then modulated and swept along that mirrored surface to create a two-dimensional (“2D”) raster image. Simultaneously, the mirrored surface upon which the raster image is created is rotated along a axis that is orthogonal to the raster image. During the orthogonal rotation the 2D raster image is redrawn as separate frames in a timed and coordinated manner such that each pixel element (“pixel”) of the 2D image is displayed sequentially in 3D space as a volumetric pixel element (“voxel”). The integrating characteristics of human sight are then used to create the impression of a volumetric surface from the integration of the raster images.

  • Publication number: 20100172287
Abstract: A system and method for using mobile network devices that are periodically connected to a network server are disclosed. The devices exchange data in an ad hoc manner when not connected to the server. In the preferred embodiment, independent mobile wireless network devices are connected to a network server through a client computing device acting as a gateway to the server. The presence of the mobile network device and the client computing device cause both devices to become users. The server pairs both the network device and the client computing device with a unique identity contained on the network device. Paired and independent identities that have presence on the server then interact with each other in such a manner that data on the connected mobile network devices is changed and stored in concordance with this community interaction. Unconnected mobile network devices search for other unconnected mobile network devices within range to form an ad hoc network.

  • Patent number: 5526411
Abstract: An integrated portable phone and personal computing device has a hand-held body structure that allows the device to be comfortably held as a telephone receiver, yet is configured in such a way as not to decrease the computing capabilities of the device. The body structure provides for a display screen and input unit on a front surface of the device with a speaker and a microphone located on a side surface of the device. The arrangement for the body structure increases the useable surface area for both the display screen and input unit by providing for a combined display screen and input unit on the front surface. An activation key on the side of the unit inhibits data entry on the input unit when the device is being held as a telephone receiver without the need for a cover over the input unit.

  • Patent number: 5510778
Abstract: A paging receiver system is provided that can be integrated as one function of a multi-function electronic card device adapted for insertion into a portable computing device. The paging receiver system preferably includes a frequency agile receiver for receiving paging signals, a driver-less interface for communicating the received paging signals to the computing device and a platform-transparent memory for storing the received paging signals. The frequency agile receiver includes a frequency synthesizer for generating a user selectable down conversion frequency that is combined by a mixer to produce a received paging signal at a predetermined intermediate frequency. The driver-less interface multiplexes the received paging signal with the output of a data modem such that the computing device requires only a driver interface for the data modem in order to receive both modem data and paging information.
