  • Patent number: 4230174
Abstract: An improvement in a heating and air conditioning system for a mobile home or the like including a system of air ducts for distributing the air within the mobile home, a heating unit, a cooling unit; and characterized by a plenum chamber that includes respective connected hot and cold air inlet apertures and valve seats, and at least one outlet opening connected with the air ducts; and a large hollow lightweight poppet disposed intermediate the hot and cold air valve seats. The large hollow poppet is moveable responsive to respective directions of air flow to and away from the hot and cold air valve seats so as to permit flow from one of the heating and cooling units and to block reverse flow into the other. Also provided are guide means for freely and accurately guiding the hollow poppet between its respective seating engagement positions.

  • Patent number: 4206906
Abstract: This specification discloses a jack capable of raising an object from ground level height to a predetermined height characterized by a superstructure that includes a base and a strong member above the base and connected thereto, the strong member having the plurality of stations at predetermined heights therealong; a lift bar for lifting the superstructure and the attached object; top fastener for fastening the lifting bar so as to prevent movement upwardly past the predetermined station on the superstructure; connecting means for connecting the superstructure with the object; extensible leg having a plurality of stations therealong and being slidably disposed in an aperture through the base; bottom fastener for fastening the base along the leg at a predetermined station to prevent downward movement past the station; a jacking means for raising the object by forcing the extensible leg and the lift bar apart so that by one or more cycles the object can be raised at a predetermined height by the jack.

  • Patent number: 4200305
Abstract: A trailer assembly for carrying overwidth loads such as large rectangular concrete slabs. The trailer includes two separate units, a front unit and a rear unit. Each unit includes a frame mounted on a set of tandem wheels. The front unit has upper and lower frames rotatably connected together, allowing the wheels to turn with respect to the upper frame. A tongue is hingedly connected to the front unit. It has a hitch for connection to the towing vehicle and a compression device to apply weight to the hitch for compressive connection with the towing vehicle. Longitudinal cross members are mounted across the front and rear units to support the load. The cross members can be removed and stored parallel to the length of the units for legal width return trip towing. On return trip, the rear unit is towed reverse to the direction towed while loaded. Also disclosed is an embodiment employing two units the same or similar to the front unit to enable being moved laterally to facilitate parking in close space.

  • Patent number: 3995446
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a reversible air cycle heat pump, or conditioner that provides cooling and heating options. A condenser plenum and an evaporator plenum are separated by a compartment. The compartment has a vertical partition transverse to the condenser and evaporator plenums. A single damper is carried horizontally within the compartment, and has a co-acting portion on either side of the partition. One end, or outdoor portion, of the compartment has outdoor discharge and suction chambers on either side of the partition. The other end, or indoor portion, of the compartment has indoor discharge and suction chambers on either side of the partition, with the damper dividing the indoor portion from the outdoor portion. Windows on one side of each of the condenser plenum and the evaporator plenum communicate with the compartment. The damper is pivotal about an axle axis carried transverse to the partition.

  • Patent number: 3944242
Abstract: A new supporting structure for a mobile home comprising pre-stressed concrete and a method for making same. The supporting structure comprises a rectangular floor, supported by beams on the lower surface of the floor. A pair of large longitudinal beams are formed on the lower surface of the floor adjacent the longitudinal edge of the floor. A plurality of smaller transverse beams are formed on the lower surface of the floor connecting the longitudinal beams. Both the longitudinal and transverse beams are pre-stressed. Means for attaching wheels and a towing hitch are provided. The supporting structure is cast in a single piece in a bed provided with channels for the longitudinal and transverse beams. The beams are pre-stressed in a conventional manner either by pre-tensioning or post-tensioning tendons. After the concrete has set and the tendons anchored, the supporting structure is lifted out, and wheels and a towing hitch attached.
