  • Publication number: 20260176545
Abstract: This disclosure relates to the use of di(alkyl substituted phenyl)amine antioxidants as additives in lubricant compositions to reduce oil viscosity, particularly in the presence of high soot concentrations, in engine crankcase applications, especially in compression ignited engine and or spark ignited engine applications, where the antioxidant comprises from 0 to 15 mass % mono-alkyl substituted diphenylamine antioxidants, and 85 to 100 mass % di(alkyl substituted phenyl)amines based upon the weight of the mono- and di-(alkyl substituted phenyl) amines, preferably where unsubstituted phenyl amines are minimized, tri-alkyl substituted phenyl amines are minimized, and ortho substituted di-alkyl substituted phenyl amines are minimized.

  • Publication number: 20260109910
Abstract: This disclosure relates to the use of di(alkyl substituted phenyl)amine antioxidants as additives in lubricant compositions having good oxidation properties in engine crankcase applications, especially in compression ignited engine and or spark ignited engine applications, where the antioxidant comprises from 0 to 15 mass % of mono-C9-alkyl substituted diphenyl amine and tri-C9-alkyl substituted diphenyl amine, and 85 to 100 mass % di-C9-alkyl substituted phenyl amines based upon the weight of the mono-, di- and tri-C9-alkyl substituted phenyl amines.

  • Publication number: 20250320425
Abstract: Lubricating oil compositions are disclosed that are suitable for use in all engine types and that provide a reduced Average Friction/Traction coefficient in use, with attendant improvement in fuel economy performance, especially retained fuel economy performance. The disclosed compositions are also advantageous in that molybdenum-based friction modifying ingredients previously considered crucial to reducing friction from metal-metal contact and high molecular weight PIBSA-PAM dispersants can be omitted or used at lower treat rates without impairing friction-reducing or fuel economy performance.

  • Patent number: 11939550
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an overbased alkaline earth metal hydrocarbyl-substituted salicylate detergent comprising both carbonate and borate moieties and exhibiting the following characteristics: a basicity index of at least 3.8; a ratio of soap content to mass % boron is greater than 55 mmol/kg; a soap content of at least 330 mmol/kg; a TBN, measured according to ASTM D2896, of at least 220 mg KOH/g; and a mass ratio of borate to carbonate from 0.75 to 6.0, wherein the alkaline earth metal comprises calcium and/or magnesium, and the hydrocarbyl substitution comprises 9 to 30 carbon atoms. Methods of making the boron-containing salicylate detergent, specifically to be package-stable, are also disclosed, as well as package-stable lubricant additive package concentrates and lubricating oil compositions containing same.
