Abstract: A domestic system including at least one item of domestic furniture and/or domestic appliance, in particular a domestic refrigerator, having an improved determining routine, in particular for determining a storage characteristic variable, includes a detection unit to detect at least one consumer product disposed and/or to be disposed within the item of domestic furniture and/or domestic appliance and to provide a consumer product characteristic variable correlated to the consumer product. At least one predefined database can store predefined consumer product characteristic variables of consumer products of different types, and a computer unit can compare the consumer product characteristic variable with the predefined consumer product characteristic variables for determining a storage characteristic variable.

Abstract: A method for capturing the content of a storage space, particularly a freezer compartment and a normal refrigerating compartment or larder of a refrigeration appliance, includes providing a set of contactlessly readable data storage media, each of the data storage media including information specific thereto, physically connecting one of the data storage media to a stored product, generating a data record linking the information specific to the data storage medium to information specific to the stored product connected to the data storage medium, storing the data record in a database, reading those data storage media located in the storage space, and outputting the stored product-specific information from those entries in the database for which the data storage medium-specific information was read. A refrigeration appliance, a management unit and a computer program product are also provided.
