  • Patent number: 6109766
Abstract: A lighting device comprising one or more light sources placed in respect to a concentrating concave or echelon main reflector, with the light emitted by the light source(s) being reflected by the main reflector so as to create a projected pattern of light to be directed onto a subject to be illuminated, a focusable light being achieved by shifting means capable of displacing or tilting the light source(s) with regard to the optical axis of the reflector. Said shifting means are apt to displace said at least one light source in a direction or at an angle to and from said optical axis of said reflector, in a plane substantially perpendicular to said axis, or to tilt the at least one light source(s). The light source(s) is(are) placed around said optical axis of the reflector and are movable or inclinable in a direction away from the optical axis of said reflector.

  • Patent number: 4872031
Abstract: A device for side-lighting a subject placed in front of a background as well as for lighting the background itself, for example when taking pictures of the subject by photography, cinematography or the like, consists of a series of reflecting panels attached to a solid or hollowed-out common central background wall or attached to each other around a free surface corresponding to the rear end-wall of the assembly. These reflecting panels are disposed in raised and inclined positions with respect to the background plane of the assembly in orientations such that said panels are capable of reflecting the light emitted by a front light source towards the subject to be photographed as well as towards the rear end-wall of the assembly, the assembly being of generally concave shape.

  • Patent number: 4649463
Abstract: A lighting appliance having high diffusion power, in particular for illuminating a subject when taking photographs, shooting films or the like. The appliance comprises a diffusion screen placed in front of a light source carried by the base of the lighting unit and a reflector placed behind the light source. The diffusion screen has at least two flat or curved faces directed both towards the front and towards the sides. The space delimited above the base of the lighting unit is closed at the rear by a reflecting wall and the top face of the base is also reflecting. A curved or faceted lateral cheek is provided opposite to the faces of the diffusion screen and on each side. The cheek face which is directed towards the diffusion screen is reflecting and the internal edges of the cheek are rigidly fixed both to the corresponding edge of the base of the lighting unit and to the respective rear edge of the diffusion screen.

  • Patent number: 4428029
Abstract: A light-gathering device for transmitting through fiber optic bundles, the light emitted by an electronic flash along with the light from a continuous light source so that relatively small objects may be lit so as to photograph them. A first housing (8) is provided, designed to receive a flash tube (1) of an electronic flash unit, and a "model"(3) emitting continuous light, the first housing (8) being enclosed within a second housing in which there are several openings for inserting the ends of fiber optic bundles (2) whose opposite ends are used for illuminating the object to be photographed. Manual shutters (5, 6, 7) are provided for varying the light intensity from the flash tube to the fiber optics (2). This light gathering device is suitable for taking top-quality color photographs which have the desired lighting effects.

  • Patent number: 4428030
Abstract: This modular light-diffusing or reflecting plastic panel, notably for photography, motion-picture and television, comprises a cut panel (1), of semi-rigid material having formed therein by pressing a series of grooves (2, 3, 4), oriented to permit the folding of the panel (1) in different planes in order to impart a three-dimensional configuration thereto with multiple faces; folding tabs and tongues (8, 9, 12) are formed along the panel periphery for assembling it with other similar panels or closing the panel. Various three-dimensional configurations may be given to this panel while preserving its stability in the upright position on a horizontal planar surface. This panel is very light in weight and capable of diffusing or reflecting light in all possible angular directions.
