Abstract: A pocket and drape system which provides multiple (e.g., at least two) sterile fields and the methodology for employing said system is provided. The system includes first and second base drape materials each having upper and lower edges edge both extending in a longitudinal direction and first and second side edges both extending in a transverse direction. The first base drape material and the second base drape material also each include a longitudinal fold line. A first zone of pockets is present on a surface of the first base drape material and a second zone of pockets is present on a surface of the second base drape material. The manner in which the base drape materials are folded and joined to each other during assembly (e.g., before sterilization) maintains the sterility of the first and second zone of pockets until each zone is ready for use during a medical procedure.

Abstract: A wettable SMS material for personal protective equipment, such as a SMS fabric that has been treated to improve the wettability and absorbency properties of the SMS fabric is provided. A treated SMS fabric for personal protective equipment can retain its durability, breathability, and comfort, and may also provide the fabric with wettability and absorption properties. An article for personal protective equipment formed from a wettable SMS fabric is also provided.

Abstract: An accessory cuff is configured to reinforce a gown-glove interface to protect a wearer from exposure to potential pathogens or contaminants through vulnerabilities in the gown-glove interface. The accessory cuff includes a body extending from a proximal end to a distal end along a longitudinal axis. The body has a lumen extending therethrough from the proximal end to the distal end, and a wall surrounding the lumen. The accessory cuff is configured to create a fluid impervious barrier to prevent fluid from entering the lumen when the accessory cuff is sealed at the proximal end and the distal end.

The head cover includes an anterior portion with a height h, a posterior portion with a height h2, at least one side portion or panel which may be shaped and sized so as to connect the anterior portion of the head cover and the posterior portion of the head cover, and where the at least one side portion has a contoured section t that forms all or a portion of a bottom edge of the side portion and that is shaped and sized so as to cover the ears, scalp, and sideburns of a user as required by AORN guidelines while also remaining clear of a user's eyes and field of vision.

Abstract: A visor system for a surgical hood is provided. The system includes a base film and one or more removable films that are mechanical bonded (e.g., via ultrasonic energy and pressure, which allows ethylene oxide gas to penetrate between the films to provide for a “new” sterile surface should the surgeon elect to peel away a soiled or splattered removable film during the course of a surgical procedure so that an unobstructed view can be maintained. The mechanical bond points are intermittent rather than continuous so that the perimeter of the visor is not sealed, thus allowing for adequate ethylene oxide gas penetration and exposure to each of the films. Further, because the bond points are located about the perimeter of the removable films, viewing is not obscured, yet the layers are held securely in place until easily removed from the underlying removable film or base film.
