Abstract: Method of regulating plant growth, particularly to effect stunting, employing 1,2,4-triazol-1-yl-substituted aryl aralkyl ketones.

Abstract: A pyrazine compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen, or optionally-substituted hydrocarbyl, aryloxy or alkoxy and R.sub.2, additionally may be pyridyl, thienyl or furyl; R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are H, alkyl or aryl or together form a bridging group; Z is: ##STR2## where R.sub.5 is H, alkyl or aryl; and functional derivatives and salts thereof. The compounds are useful for combating fungal or bacterial diseases in plants.

Abstract: Fungicidal compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl having up to 6 (preferably up to 4) carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted aryl (e.g. phenyl), substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl (e.g benzyl), cyano, alkoxycarbonyl or trihalomethyl (e.g. trifluoromethyl), Z is C=0 or a derivative thereof (e.g. a ketal, hydrazone, semicarbazone, oxime or imine), each of R.sup.1 to R.sup.10, which may be the same or different, is hydrogen, halogen, phenyl (particularly in the 4-position on the ring), C.sub.1-4 alkyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, nitro or mono- or di- (C.sub.1-4 alkyl)-, aryl- or aralkyl-substituted or unsubstituted amino, at least four of R.sup.1 to R.sup.10 being hydrogen, and X is imidazol-1-yl, or 1, 2,4-triazol-1-yl, and acid addition salts and metal complexes of such compounds.

Abstract: Thienopyrimidines of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is straight or branched chain alkyl containing from 3 to 11 carbon atoms and optionally substituted with cyano or methoxy, cycloalkyl, benzyl optionally substituted on the .alpha. carbon atom with a lower alkyl group or in the ring with one or more alkoxy groups or halogen atoms, dimethylamino, phenylethyl optionally substituted at the .alpha.- or .beta.-carbon atoms with a lower alkyl group, tetrahydrofurfuryl; R.sup.3 is hydrogen or NH.sub.2 ; or R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 together form a carbon chain bridging group optionally saturated and containing one or more nitrogen atoms; R.sup.2 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, or chlorine; R.sup.5 is hydrogen or methyl; and R.sup.6 is hydrogen, methyl or acetylamino; or an optical isomer thereof; or a tautomer thereof; or a salt thereof. These and other thienopyrimidines are disclosed as useful for plant growth regulation and for combating fungal, viral and bacterial diseases of plants and insect pests.

Abstract: Compounds of formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are alkyl, cycloalkyl or phenyl and Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 are carbonyl or a derivative thereof, or salts or metal complexes thereof. They have fungicidal and plant growth regulating activity.

Abstract: Fungicidal compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.4 is ethyl or propyl, R.sub.5 is hydroxy, C.sub.1-14 alkoxy, phenylamino, benzyloxy or benzyloxy substituted with halogen and Z is C.dbd.O, or a fungicidal salt of said compound.

Abstract: A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.4 is alkenyl or alkynyl of up to 8 carbon atoms or aralkyl of up to 8 carbon atoms, the aralkyl being optionally substituted with 2 halogen, alkyl of up to 8 carbons, nitro, trifluoromethyl, cyano, methoxy or methylenedioxy, R.sub.5 is cycloalkyl or branched chain alkyl of up to 8 carbon atoms, and Z is C = O, or a fungicidal salt of such compound.
