Abstract: This invention relates to alkylated methylnaphthalenes and their utility in lubricant base stocks. In particular, the alkylated methylnaphthalenes of the present invention have unexpectedly superior thermal and oxidative properties and may be used to improve the performance characteristics of other lubricant base oils.

Abstract: A fluid blend suitable for use as a lube basestock comprises two major components: (A) a copolymer made from ethylene with one or more alpha olefins, the copolymer (i) containing not more than 50 wt % ethylene; (ii) having a number average molecular weight of from 400 to 10,000; and (iii) a molecular weight distribution<3; and (B) a polyalphaolefin fluid or a hydroprocessed oil having a VI greater than 80.

Abstract: A synthetic lubricant base stock is provided hang a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of from 5 to about 300 cS and a VI greater than 100. The base stock comprises random co-oligomers of an alpha olefin or mixtures thereof and an olefinic substituted aromatic compound which co-oligomers are prepared in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst.

Abstract: Homogeneous lubricant blends are disclosed comprising polyether liquid lubricants miscible with synthetic hydrocarbon fluids or severely hydroprocessed basestock. The lubricants comprise SHF or hydroprocessed basestock and polyalkylene oxide polymer having recurring units of at least one long chain monoepoxy alkane monomer(s) containing 8 to 30 carbon atoms and short chain comonomer(s) selected from the group consisting of substituted or unsubstituted tetrahydrofuran, oxetan, butylene oxide propylene oxide and ethylene oxide wherein the mole ratio of long chain monoepoxy alkane monomers to short chain comonomers is between 0.5 and 9.

Abstract: Novel methods for the preparation of modified poly .alpha.-olefins, and compositions prepared by the novel methods are disclosed. The modified poly alpha-olefins of the present invention are useful as base fluids or additives in synthetic lubricants.

Abstract: A process for using hydrogen-containing gas to regenerate a zeolite catalyst comprising at least some crystalline aluminosilicate zeolitic material having pore windows formed by 8-membered rings of oxygen atoms, e.g., ZSM-34, which has been used to promote conversion of methanol and/or methyl ether to light olefins. Contact of such catalysts with hydrogen-containing gas such as hydrogen or synthesis gas at particular regeneration temperatures and pressures can restore the activity of such catalysts either in the presence or absence of organic reactants without forming potentially catalyst-damaging by-products such as water.
