  • Patent number: 9207742
Abstract: A power-saving operating method for an electronic device is provided. A control chip of the electronic device has an interrupt pin, and the electronic device couples to a touch device through a connection port and the interrupt pin. When the touch device is idle for over an idle time, a BIOS is informed through the interrupt pin to disable the connection port. When a number of touch signals received from the touch device within a first predetermined time is not less than a first predetermined amount, the connection port is enabled. When the number of the touch signals received from the touch device within the first predetermined time is less than the first predetermined amount or none of the touch signal is received within the first predetermined time, a reading operation for reading the connection port is interrupted and the touch device enters a power-saving mode.

  • Patent number: 9201661
Abstract: A booting method is provided. In the booting method, a basic input/output system (BIOS) is activated to check a first set value. When the first set value corresponds to a fast boot mode, the BIOS performs a fast boot process, in which the fast boot process is interrupted when the BIOS receives a system control interrupt. The BIOS changes a second set value and the first set value according to the system control interrupt, so that the first set value corresponds to a normal boot process. Next, the BIOS is reactivated. Further, the BIOS performs a normal boot process when the first set value corresponds to the normal boot mode, in which the BIOS checks the second set value, so as to execute an operating process corresponding to the second set value and recover the second set value and the first set value.

  • Publication number: 20140026001
Abstract: A method of improving a data transmission for a firmware in a computer system is disclosed. The method includes monitoring a time-out count, a roll-over count, and an error flag of the data transmission when the data transmission is performed via a high-speed bus; and determining whether to send an interrupt command to a BIOS according to the time-out count, the roll-over count, and the error flag.

  • Publication number: 20120062183
Abstract: An electronic device and a charging method thereof are provided, wherein the electronic device has a battery and is connected to a power supply. In the charging method, it is determined whether a current time of the electronic device is in a specific time interval. During the specific time interval, it is determined whether a remaining power of the battery is more than a lower bound of power. If yes, the battery is stopped form being charged and the battery is solely used to keep the electronic device working; otherwise, the power supply is controlled and an intermittence charging procedure is used to charge the battery in accordance with the lower bound of power. While not in the specific time interval, a normal charging procedure is used to charge the battery. By switching between the two different charging procedures, purposes of charging effectively and lowering electricity bills are both achieved.
