  • Publication number: 20070264194
Abstract: The present invention provides peptides that selectively bind to mammalian atherosclerotic lesions. The present invention also provides methods for in vivo identification of peptides capable of binding to biomolecules as well as methods for identifying the targets of such binding moieties. Methods to diagnose or treat pathologic conditions that involve atherosclerotic lesions are also provided by the invention that involve administering to a mammal a peptide attached to a reporter molecule or a therapeutic agent, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20060166937
Abstract: A method for the treatment of atherosclerosis, in particular atherosclerotic/valve calcification and plaque rupture/stroke, in a patient in need of such treatment, e.g. a patient with aterial or valve calcification, which comprises administering an effective amount of a bisphosphonate, e.g. zoledronic acid or salts or hydrates thereof, to the patient. Especially the invention relates to the local administration the bisphosphonate and to a device, e.g. stent adapted for such local administration.

  • Publication number: 20060013852
Abstract: The present invention relates to drug delivery systems, comprising an ARB or a RI, or at least two representatives selected from the group consisting of an ARB, an ACEI and a RI, or, in each case, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, for the prevention and treatment of proliferative diseases, particularly vascular diseases. The invention furthermore relates to the use of such drug delivery systems, for preventing or treating restenosis in diabetic and non-diabetic patients, or for the prevention or reduction of vascular access dysfunction in association with the insertion or repair of an indwelling shunt, fistula or catheter in a subject in need thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050126473
Abstract: The device comprises a crucible with a support, a heater and at least one heat-insulating screen, wherein, according to the invention, the heater is made of a starting flexible carbon-bearing material in the form of a cylinder whose ends are fixed between coaxially arranged rigid rings of carbon material that are connected to a power supply. And, the heater is made so that the wall thereof has its thickness determined from the relationship: ?·?·c=500 to 8500 J/m2·K, where: ?—heater wall thickness, m; ?—density of the material the heater is made of, kg/m3; and c—specific heat of the material the heater is made of (at working temperature), J/kg·K.
