The processors perform operations that include displaying, via the user interface, a list of one or more media playback devices available to be added to a social networking group. A selection of first and second media playback devices to be associated with a particular social networking group is received via the user interface. The first media playback device is associated with a first playback queue that specifies a first set of media items associated with first media content that can be streamed from a first streaming service to the first media playback device. An indication to the social networking system that specifies the selection of the first and second media playback devices to be associated with the group is communicated via the network circuitry.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein may involve a “social” queue for use by a group of two or more media playback systems. An example method involves receiving, from a first media playback system, a first message indicating a first set of media items and receiving, from a second media playback system, a second message indicating a second set of media items. The method also involves generating a playback queue (i.e., a social queue) that includes the first set of media items indicated in the first message and the second set of media items indicated in the second message. The method may then involve transmitting, to at least one of the first media playback system and the second media playback system, the generated playback queue.
