  • Publication number: 20030044309
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions and methods for controlling malodor on surfaces and particularly tobacco smoke on and in fabrics. The compositions of the present invention comprise aldehyde-containing fragrance components, nonionic surfactant and an aqueous vehicle. Optionally, additional solubilizers, odor control components and preservatives can be included. The compositions of the invention can be prepared as stable, gel-free, clear concentrates and diluted for use. If prepared as a concentrate, the concentrate is diluted with water to a ready to use concentration and sprayed on the surface to be deodorized. Generally the malodors are significantly reduced in about 5 minutes or less. The compositions of the invention are particularly effective against smoke odors and demonstrate the ability to reduce these odors for relatively long periods of time. Selected amine disinfectant compounds can be included in the compositions to provide disinfecting properties.
