  • Publication number: 20220312158
Abstract: A method of updating a background data transfer, BDT, policy negotiated between an application function, AF, and a Core Network, CN, is disclose. The method is performed by a Policy Control Function, PCF, of the CN and comprises determining updated BDT policy information including updated conditions for the negotiated BDT policy and at least one candidate BDT policy for the AP to select when the PCF determines that the negotiated BDT policy is affected by degraded network performance. The determined updated BDT policy information is then sent to the AF by the PCF using notification type interaction, thereby effectively updating the negotiated BDT policy.

  • Publication number: 20220046462
Abstract: Systems and method are disclosed herein that relate to support for virtual Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) bridge management, Quality of Service (QoS) mapping, and TSN related scheduling in a cellular communications system. In some embodiments, a method performed by one or more network nodes of a cellular communications system operating as a virtual TSN bridge of a TSN network comprises providing, to a controller associated with the TSN network, parameters that relate to capabilities of the virtual TSN bridge. The parameters that relate to the capabilities of the virtual TSN bridge comprise a first parameter that defines a clock accuracy of an entity in the cellular communications system that operates gating control for the virtual TSN bridge and a second parameter that informs the controller associated with the TSN network that the virtual TSN bridge or a particular egress port of the virtual TSN bridge is restricted to exclusive gating.

  • Publication number: 20200336933
Abstract: Systems and methods related to congestion monitoring in a mobile communications network; in particular, a congestion monitoring unit that sends congestion information to a policy control unit for a plurality of mobile entities, wherein each of the mobile entities is connected to a respective radio access network and associated with the policy control unit, the congestion information indicates congestion of the respective radio access network. The congestion monitoring unit sends a request message to a policy control unit for transmitting congestion information of a mobile entity, the message routed by a Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) and includes congestion information and an identity for a given mobile entity; in response, the policy control unit sends a response message including an identity of the policy control unit. The congestion monitoring unit can then send aggregated congestion information for a plurality of mobile entities associated with the policy control unit.

  • Patent number: 10021038
Abstract: A method in a first network node handles data sessions in a communications network. The method includes receiving information indicating a second data session entering the communications network. The method further includes creating a second rule associated with the second data session. The second rule causes the first data session to be associated with the second data session. The method further includes determining that the second rule share a guaranteed bit rate (GBR) with a first rule associated with the first data session based on the second data session entering the communications network. The method further includes transmitting first information that the second rule and an indicator indicating the first rule and the second rule should share the GBR.

  • Patent number: 9872184
Abstract: In scenarios where the quality of service is negotiated through a signalling layer whereas the services are actually carried through a bearer layer, application functions at the signalling layer are not always aware of how quality of service is individually accomplished at the bearer layer on a service basis. The invention provides a method and devices whereby events are detected on a service data flow basis at a detection device in the bearer layer and notified towards an application device in the signalling layer via a control device between the signalling and the bearer layer. The list of events to be notified is obtainable at the control device from the application device and is included in Quality of Service related rules, along with service data flow filters. This Quality of Service related rules are provided to the detection device for inspecting individual service data flows in order to detect and notify the indicated events.

  • Patent number: 9686317
Abstract: A network is described herein which can control, through subscriber profile data and/or policy preconfigured control data, whether deep packet inspection for data flow/s for an Internet Protocol-Connectivity Access Network (IP-CAN) session established by an end user should take place, or not, according to a defined “User Privacy Policy”, and, in the former case, to which traffic detection function (TDF) node the data flow(s) should be directed.

  • Patent number: 9602417
Abstract: The embodiments herein relates to a method for enabling multiple bearer support upon congestion situations in a communication network. The PCC architecture is enabled to determine whether separate bearers need to be established for service(s) that demand MBR>GBR when no ECN support is provided. This is provided in nodes and methods receiving, using a receiving unit (301), an indication of session establishment for a bearer from a bearer binding function unit (113, 115), obtaining profile information with Quality of Service, QoS, information about maximum bit rate, MBR, and guaranteed bit rate, GBR, related to the bearer; determining that the MBR is larger than the GBR, making a policy decision, and transmitting, using the transmitting unit (305), an acknowledgement of session establishment to the bearer binding function unit with an indicator that a separate bearer is to be established.
