    Abstract: Method and apparatus for thermal desorption wherein a carrier liquid is circulated around a desorption chamber when a sample to be desorbed in heated, whereby the desorbed substance is dissolved into the carrier liquid for transport to a region where the substance is analyzed. The carrier liquid circulation is performed at high pressure sufficient to maintain the carrier liquid in the liquid phase during heating of the sample.
