  • Publication number: 20240131467
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for capturing CO2 on a large scale using aqueous solutions of zwitterionic bases by contacting a gas stream containing one or more acid gases with said solutions. The internal salts obtained in the present invention have the advantage of not being volatile, being less susceptible to chemical and thermal decomposition, and also have lower absorption enthalpy. The present invention can be used in various industry sectors, such as in the energy sector, for capturing CO2 from exhaust gases, in the chemical sector, for removing CO2 from the gas streams of catalytic processes in which the CO2 can poison the catalysts, and, in particular, in the oil and gas sector, for purifying natural gas.

  • Patent number: 11753361
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of laboratory-scale sample preparation, which describes a methodology for the specific isolation of tetraprotic naphthenic acids, called ARN acids, from residual naphthenate deposits from petroleum production. The method consists of cleaning the naphthenate deposit, converting the naphthenate salts to naphthenic acids and isolating the ARN acids from the other organic acids, using a silica-based sorbent material with aminopropyl functional groups, previously selected for an efficient elution of different functional groups and polarities.

  • Publication number: 20220177400
Abstract: Naphthenate deposition is formed from tetraprotic naphthenic acids having aliphatic chains and high molecular weight, provided with four carboxylic terminations, sometimes called ARN acids. Obtaining these species from their matrix of origin requires the prior use of sample preparation methods aiming at an efficient extraction of naphthenic acids. Obtaining ARN acids from naphthenate deposits is advantageous in the potential for reusing waste and reducing environmental damage. The process also adds value to waste materials from the oil production and exploration process. The present invention relates to the field of laboratory-scale sample preparation, which describes a methodology for the specific isolation of tetraprotic naphthenic acids, called ARN acids, from residual naphthenate deposits from petroleum production.

  • Patent number: 9512699
Abstract: Systems and methods for regulating an in situ pyrolysis process. The methods may include producing a product fluid stream from an active pyrolysis region of a subterranean formation. The methods further may include detecting a concentration of a first component in the product fluid stream and/or detecting a concentration of a second component in the product fluid stream. The concentration of the first component may be indicative of an intensive property of the pyrolyzed fluid production system. The concentration of the second component may be indicative of an extensive property of the pyrolyzed fluid production system. The methods further may include regulating at least one characteristic of the pyrolyzed fluid production system based upon the concentration of the first component and/or based upon the concentration of the second component. The systems may include systems that are configured to perform the methods.

  • Publication number: 20060143701
Abstract: A method and apparatus for changing a secret value used to authenticate network protocol control messages among network nodes in a trusted domain includes configuring each network node in the domain to use a first secret value to authenticate network protocol control messages among network nodes in the domain. After every network node in the domain has been configured with the first secret value, each network node in the domain is configured to use a different second secret value to authenticate network protocol control messages. After every network node has been configured with the second secret value, each network rode in the domain is configured to no longer use the first secret value to authenticate network protocol control messages. Thus a configured secret value for authentication is changed from the first secret value to the second secret value while maintaining communication of network protocol control messages within the domain.

  • Publication number: 20050111360
Abstract: Certain bits of a packet, such as bits in the IP header of an IP packet, are used to designate the type of service or Quality of Service (QoS) level to be afforded to the packet as it passes through a data communications network A user entitled to a certain QoS level logs into a service selection gateway SSG. The SSG queries an authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) server in response to a log-in attempt by the user. Upon authorization, the AAA server returns an access accept signal in addition to an indication from the user's service profile (user profile) as to the QoS level to be afforded the user. While the user is logged in, all packets are routed through the SSG. The SSG sets the certain bits of the packet in accordance with the user's assigned QoS level so that as the packets are routed through the data communications network, they are consistently afforded the assigned Quality of Service level.
