  • Patent number: 6571551
Abstract: A device for use with a lean-burning internal combustion engine is disclosed. The device is comprised of a means for generating an air/fuel mixture for the cylinders of the engine in order to provide at least stratified and homogenous operation, an exhaust system connected to the engine, and an NOX-adsorbing catalytic converter arranged in the exhaust system. The device additionally has a heat exchanger that is fitted upstream of the catalytic converter, wherein the heat exchanger is used to adapt the temperature of the exhaust gas from the engine to an operating state of the catalytic converter.

  • Patent number: 5891050
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for determining and monitoring the degree of narcosis in a subject. The determination proceeds as follows. Auditory stimuli are generated by means of a stimulus generator (1). Response signals which signalize the response of the auditory chain to said stimuli are picked up by means of electrodes (4) on the patient's head (3). The response signals are converted by a digitizer into digital response signals. For each digital response signal, an implementation is generated by selecting a portion of the digital response signal. A signal processing means (7) is arranged, by means of which a first and a second mean signal of implementations is formed and by means of which the second mean signal is adapted to the first mean signal for forming an adapted mean signal. Finally, a waveform estimate of the adapted mean signal is formed with the aid of the signal processing means.

  • Patent number: 5867982
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for reducing emissions in catalytic converter exhaust systems for an internal combustion engine. The invention comprises air-fuel mixture forming means for providing a mixture of air-fuel to the engine, a catalytic converter for purifying an exhaust gas mixture from the engine, and a control unit adapted for controlling the mixture forming means so that an excess of hydrogen is generated in the exhaust gas mixture during the start-up of the engine. According to the invention, the excess of hydrogen is maintained essentially unburnt within the catalytic converter so as to provide a short light-off time for the catalytic converter.

  • Patent number: 4811996
Abstract: A decorative display and storage case for attractively displaying and protectively storing earrings of the type for pierced ears has a base and an enclosure formed by four upstanding walls with at least one of the walls being transparent for permitting viewing of the contents of the enclosure. A plurality of display frames having plastic mesh screens positioned therein which screens have openings adapted to accommodate the wire prong element of earrings for pierced ears are mounted in the enclosure in aligned slots in two of the walls which are in a face-to-face relationship. The slots slidably receive and retain the display frames until the frames are slidably removed therefrom. A cover is positioned on top of the walls for closing the case. A mirror may be mounted on the inside surface of the cover which when held at an angle provides the viewer with a different view of the frames in the case to aid the selection of the frame carrying the set of earrings desired.
