  • Publication number: 20230308850
Abstract: A method, in a distributed unit (DU) of a base station comprising a central unit (CU) and one or more DUs, each DU serving one or more cells, comprises sending, to the CU, information indicative of capacity in the DU for sending segmented messages and/or indicative of a capability of the DU to send segmented messages. In some embodiments, the information is indicative of capacity in the DU for sending segmented Public Warning System (PWS) messages and/or indicative of a capability of the DU to send segmented PWS messages. In some embodiments, the method further comprises receiving, from the CU, a segmented PWS message in system information blocks (SIBs), each SIB carrying a segment of the PWS message, and broadcasting the SIBs.

  • Publication number: 20230209428
Abstract: Embodiments include methods performed by a target RAN controller for handling relocation of a UE connection from a source RAN controller during an ongoing wireless communication. Such methods include, when a distance between the UE and a border between source and target RAN controllers is below a threshold value, receiving from the source RAN controller an order to establish radio link(s) to be controlled by the target RAN controller for the ongoing wireless communication and establishing radio link(s) for the ongoing wireless communication accordingly. Such methods include, based on existence of certain conditions, receiving from the source RAN controller a request to initiate a procedure for relocating the UE connection from source to target RAN controller. Such methods include creating an RRC configuration to be used by the UE after the relocation to the target RAN controller and sending the created RRC configuration to the source RAN controller.

  • Publication number: 20230119042
Abstract: An AI-based approach to Garbled speech (GS) detection. Machine learning (ML) models are created that can distinguish between GS speech and non-GS speech with high accuracy. The machine learning models take as input an encoded speech frame that has passed a CRC check. The input data/predictors to the models are a selected set of information elements (IEs) (i.e., a set of one or more bits) of the encoded speech frame. The selected IEs are a part of the input parameters to the speech decoder. It is possible to operate on single encoded speech frames, in contrast to using decoded frames, which requires taking a previous encoded frame into account for being able to perform the decoding.

  • Publication number: 20230112994
Abstract: A simulated Public Warning System (PWS) message is defined for efficient PWS testing. The simulated PWS message mimics a conventional PWS message, but indicates that it is not to be propagated across an air interface to UEs. However, the simulated PWS message is otherwise propagated through the network as a PWS message. This allows for testing the generation and propagation of PWS messages, without wasting valuable air interface and battery resources. In some embodiments, network nodes may initiate testing by requesting a simulated PWS message. An Access and Mobility management Function (AMF) node in a wireless communication network collects and reports network status to a PWS entity. The AMF node ascertains the functionality of network functions, nodes, and interfaces to which it is connected, independently from receiving reports of such functionality, and an indication of any detected fault or failure is sent to the PWS entity.

  • Patent number: 11601858
Abstract: A method performed by a source Radio Network Controller (RNC) for handling a relocation of a User Equipment (UE) connection from the source RNC to a target RNC to serve the UE in an ongoing wireless communication is provided. An interface between the source RNC and the target RNC is available. When all radio links in the ongoing wireless communication are controlled by the target RNC and a triggering condition is fulfilled for relocation of the UE connection from the source RNC to the target RNC, the source RNC decides (202) to discontinue to use said interface. Then a core network is used for sending (204) to the target RNC, a triggering of the relocation procedure for relocating the source RNC to the target RNC to serve the UE. A Radio Resource Control (RRC) configuration defined by the target RNC to be used after the relocation to the target RNC is then obtained (205) via the core network.

  • Patent number: 9917673
Abstract: In accordance with an example embodiment of the present invention, disclosed is a method and an apparatus thereof for handling codec rate adaptation in a communication network applying circuit switched communication. The method is performed by a wireless device. The method comprises receiving an indication of a codec mode and determining a codec mode subset based on the indicated codec mode. Rate adaptation is applied based on the codec modes comprised in the determined codec mode subset having a bit rate below or equal to a bit rate associated with the indicated codec mode.
