Abstract: The present invention provides methods and compositions for treating cancer patients, and in particular, breast cancer patients, who are responsive to antiprogestin therapy, or who may be induced to be responsive to an antiprogestin therapy through the administration of a demethylation agent, optionally together with an HDAC inhibitor. Further, the present invention relates to a method of screening cancer patients using BCL-XL as a marker protein.

Abstract: The invention provides methods, pharmaceutical compositions and kits for treating a subject having a carcinoma that is resistant to an antiprogestin. In particular, the methods comprise increasing the molar amount of progesterone receptor isoform A (PR-A) so that it is greater than that of isoform B (PR-B) and administering a therapeutically effective amount of an antiprogestin to the subject, thereby treating the carcinoma.

Abstract: A gas burner (100) is described including a variable speed fan (104) controlled to give an optimum gas/air mixture. The control is provided using a microprocessor with the gas valve position or measured characteristics of the output flame as feedback. The gas burners includes improved outlet slots to ensure optimum flame contact with a cooking vessel.
