  • Publication number: 20030220450
Abstract: An extrudable composition comprising a major amount of a thermoplastic host polymer, a fluorocarbon polymer and a dendritic material wherein the extrudate demonstrates reduced levels of surface defects.
    Type: Application
    Filed: May 20, 2002
    Publication date: November 27, 2003
    Applicant: 3M Innovative Properties Company
Inventors: Maria P. Dillon, John H. Horns, Claude Lavallee
  • Patent number: 6380313
Abstract: A polymer processing aid composition, a melt processable polymer composition that uses the polymer processing aid, and a method of improving the melt processability of a thermoplastic polymer are provided. The polymer processing aid composition comprises a fluoropolymer that comprises interpolymerized units derived from a perfluorovinyl ether, preferably one having the formula CF2═CF—(OCF2CF(CF3))AORf where a has a value of 0 to 3 and Rf is a perfluoroaliphatic (preferably perfluoroalkyl or perfluoroalkoxy) having from 1 to 8 (preferably 1 to 3) carbon atoms.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 27, 2000
Date of Patent: April 30, 2002
    Assignee: Dyneon LLC

  • Patent number: 6277919
Abstract: A polymer processing aid composition, a melt processable polymer composition that uses the polymer processing aid, and a method of improving the melt processability of a thermoplastic polymer are provided. The polymer processing aid composition comprises a multimodal fluoropolymer that preferably comprises interpolymerized units derived from an ethylenically unsaturated fluoromonomer tetrafluoroethylene and at least one ethylenically copolymerizable alpha-olefin monomer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 13, 1999
Date of Patent: August 21, 2001
    Assignee: Dyneon LLC

  • Patent number: 6242548
Abstract: A multimodal fluoroplastic terpolymer composition is provided. The terpolymer can be extruded at high extrusion speeds without having to reduce its molecular weight. The terpolymer is useful by itself; in combination with conductive fillers to provide an electrostatically dissipative composition; and as a polymer processing aid. The polymer has a low molecular weight component, a high molecular weight component and, optionally an ultra-high molecular weight component.
