  • Publication number: 20060115665
Abstract: The present invention provides a powder coating composition comprising A) 40 to 95 wt % of at least one resin binder selected from the group consisting of polyester resins, epoxy resins, urethane resins and (meth)acrylic resins, B) 5 to 60 wt % of a filler mixture comprising talcum and at least one additional filler, C) 1 to 20 wt % of at least one wax additive selected from the group consisting of polyamide wax, polyethylene wax and zinc stearate, and D) 0 to 95 wt % of at least one cross-linking agent The wt % amounts are based on total weight of the powder coating composition; The powder coating composition cures rapidly and completely and makes it possible to receive coatings with improved flow properties as well as a high smoothness and excellent sandability without any texture on surfaces of heat-sensitive substrates.

  • Patent number: 6743379
Abstract: This invention relates to a powder coating composition comprising a mixture of conventional, possibly coloured, non-conductive thermosetting powder coating compositions with highly conductive thermosetting powder coating compositions so as to produce a coating having an electrical surface resistance of less than 1010 &OHgr; (ohm), preferably of less than 108 &OHgr; (ohm), and to the substrates coated therewith. This invention also relates to using a mixture of non-conductive and conductive powder coating compositions to produce a coated surface having an electrical surface resistance sufficiently low to possess antistatic properties.

  • Patent number: 6592665
Abstract: Plant for powder coating the surfaces of objects with polymeric powder having a melting and softening temperature below 100° C. The polymeric powder includes a polymer curable under the influence of electromagnetic radiation. Objects to be coated are prepared to retain powder charged with static electricity. The objects are then sprayed with powder charged with static electricity and thereafter heated to a surface temperature of about 100° C. thereby melting the powder retained on the surface by exposure to infrared radiation and heated air. The objects are radiated by electromagnetic radiation for curing of the powder over the surface of the objects.

  • Patent number: 6319562
Abstract: Method and plant for powder coating the surfaces of objects with polymeric powder having a melting and softening temperature near 100° C., said polymeric powder includes a polymer curable under the influence of electromagnetic radiation, the method including a first step in which the objects to be coated are prepared to retain powder charged with static electricity; a second step in which the objects are sprayed with powder charged with static electricity; a third step in which the objects are heated to a surface temperature of about 100° C. thereby melting the powder retained on the surfaces by being expose the objects to infrared radiation and heated air; a fourth step in which the objects are radiated by electromagnetic radiation for initiating of curing of the powder melted to reflow over the surfaces of the objects, the objects simultaneous with the radiation being cooled.
