  • Patent number: 8383100
Abstract: Methods to treat skin conditions and diseases by applying Porifera based compositions to the skin are described. Treatable skin conditions and diseases include acne vulgaris, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, photo-aging, actinic keratosis and eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis. Therapeutic compositions are obtained from members of Porifera, for example sponges, specifically, fresh water sponges. An example of a fresh water sponge is Spongilla species. One specific therapeutic composition is obtained from Spongilla species and formulated with pharmaceutical excipients.

  • Patent number: 7335174
Abstract: A device for exerting a compression force on a breast implant located within a user's breast. The device includes a support member adjustably connect to a compression member, the compression member comprising a positioning element on one side of the compression member such that the positioning element is aligned with medial side of the breast and a compression element on the second side of the compression member such that the compression element is positioned on lateral side of the breast, and means extending between the positioning element and the compressing element for retaining the positioning element and the compressing element on opposite sides of the breast, and means for providing pressure to the compressing element causing the compressing element to apply a compression force to the breast implant within the user's breast. Additionally a method for preventing capsular contracture after breast implant surgery is provided.

  • Publication number: 20040015109
Abstract: A device for compressing a breast. The device includes a harness able to be releasably secured to a body of a user and a compression member adjustably connected to the harness for receiving the breast of the user. A control module is releasably secured to the harness for providing a pressure to the compression member for applying an equal compression force to the breast. The compression member includes a first compressing element positioned on a first side of the breast; a second compression element positioned on a second side of the breast opposite the first compressing element; and a structural member extending between the first and second compressing elements for retaining the first and second compressing elements on respective sides of the breast whereby an aperture defined by the structural member and first and second compressing elements for receiving the breast therein.
