  • Publication number: 20240322932
Abstract: An optical virtual-circuit-switching network system and optical switches thereof are provided. The optical virtual-circuit-switching network system includes multiple optical switches. Each optical switch includes an optical outbound handling module, an optical pass around module, and an optical inbound handling module. The optical outbound handling module transmits optical signals to both the horizontal optical network subsystem and the vertical optical network subsystem. The optical pass around module transmits optical signals from the horizontal optical network subsystem to the vertical optical network subsystem, or transmits optical signals from the vertical optical network subsystem to the horizontal optical network subsystem. The optical inbound handling module outputs the selected optical signals to dense wavelength-division multiplexing transceivers and, through these transceivers, converts the optical signals into electrical signals before forwarding the data to the top-of-rack switches.

  • Patent number: 8385349
Abstract: A medium access control (MAC) device and method for optical packet-switched metro wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) slotted-ring networks are used for providing quality of service (QoS) guarantees for isochronous traffic. The device includes a MAC processor and a distributed call admission control (CAC) module. The CAC module in each node of an optical packet-switched network is designed in a distributed manner, and flexibly allocates a reserved bandwidth to an isochronous traffic by a mean-rate-reservation method, controls a quota of the isochronous traffic below a quota ratio rH, resolves output contention by recording node locations forming a connection, and establishes a connection for each isochronous traffic.

  • Patent number: 7164686
Abstract: In a stepwise QoS scheduling method in output-buffered switches for broadband networks, packets are sequentially inserted in a sequence of windows on weight basis. The window size together with the weight of a flow determines the credits in a window for the flow. With sufficient credits, new packets are placed in the current window on a FIFO basis. Otherwise, packets are placed in an upward window being associated with sufficient accumulated credits.

  • Publication number: 20060171393
Abstract: An all-optical label swapping system and method superimposes a low-speed ASK label on top of a high-speed DC-balanced-line-coded ASK payload. An old ASK label is erased by modulating the combined payload and label signal with the inverse of the received ASK label. This ASK labeling technique requires only low speed external modulators and low speed optical receivers to perform the label swapping mechanism, and does not require sophisticated optical components.

  • Publication number: 20030072289
Abstract: In a quality-of-service guaranteed media access control method with dynamic granularity control for local wireless ATM networks, reservation bandwidth is allocated in accordance with a weight-based scheduling policy. Based on a neural-fuzzy prediction technique, the favorable bandwidth implying maximum throughput is derived. The smaller value between the reservation and the favorable bandwidth is allocated as the contention bandwidth of the frame.
