Abstract: Systems and methods for providing consumers with additional metrics, beyond visual characteristics, for remotely assessing the suitability and desirability of various surface coverings for a given space or project. A computing device, such as a smartphone, is capable of providing visceral feedback characteristics of the surface texture and material composition of a given surface covering in the form of haptic and/or auditory sensations.
