Abstract: The art knows of a processing tool for mixing or comminuting food materials, with a working shaft (4) which is carried in a shaft housing (2) in the area of its input end and is adapted to be coupled to a drive motor of a kitchen appliance. In the area of its output end, the shaft (4) is centrally carried in a bearing sleeve (7) and fixed in an axial direction and has fastened to its output end a work performing element (6), said shaft housing (2) merging in the area of the output end of the shaft (4) into a flared bell-shaped housing (3) whose inner space is separated from the inner space of the shaft housing (2) by a cover plate (18) through which the shaft output end extends outwardly by passing through a bore (24). The bearing sleeve (7) is inserted and held in an axial direction in a supporting member (8) which bears against the cover plate (18) on the side pointing towards the interior of the shaft housing (2) and overlaps axially with an extension (17) of the cover plate (18).

  • Patent number: 6000650
Abstract: The invention is directed to a lid (2) for closing a processing container (1). Provided in the processing container (1) is a spigot (4) for receiving a rotary processing tool (5) for comminuting food materials. The processing tool (5) has at its free end close to the lid (2) a first coupling member (18) adapted to be coupled to a second coupling member (17) of a driven shaft (10) when the lid (2) is placed on the processing container (1) for closing. The driven shaft (10) extends outwardly through a bore (9) in the lid (2) and has at its outer free end a third coupling member (27). The third coupling member (27) is adapted to be coupled to a fourth coupling member (33) of a drive shaft (31) of an electrically powered drive mechanism, in particular a hand-held mixer or immersion blender. An annular space (23) is formed between the outer diameter of the section (21) of the driven shaft (10) extending through the bore (9) and the bore (9).

  • Patent number: 5836684
Abstract: A processing tool for mixing or comminuting food materials includes a working shaft having an input end and an output end, a shaft housing which carries the input end and is adapted for coupling to a drive motor of a kitchen appliance, a flared bell-shaped housing attached to the shaft housing and positioned near the output end of the working shaft, and a bearing sleeve which carries the output end of the working shaft. A cover plate separates an inner space defined by the bell-shaped housing from an inner space defined by the shaft housing. The cover plate has a bore through which the output end of the shaft extends outwardly. A work performing element is secured to the output end of the shaft. A seal structure includes an elastic sealing part supported by the shaft housing and a circumferential sealing ring formed integrally with the elastic sealing part.

  • Patent number: 5810472
Abstract: A hand blender powered by an electric motor, for mixing or comminuting foodstuffs in a container, includes a working shaft having an output end, a processing tool attached to the output end of the working shaft, a shaft housing which carries the working shaft, and a bell-shaped casing enclosing the processing tool. The bell-shaped casing has a lower chamber, a lower end bounded by an aperture, and a plurality of lateral openings for the discharge of foodstuffs. A cover plate within the bell-shaped casing forms a fluid-tight seal between the lower chamber and an inner chamber of the shaft housing. The hand blender also includes an air supply structure through which outside air is supplied to the lower chamber of the bell-shaped casing when the bell-shaped casing is immersed in the foodstuffs. The air supply structure includes a flow channel with an inlet side which communicates with the outside air and an outlet side which communicates with the lower chamber of the bell-shaped casing.

  • Patent number: 5647546
Abstract: The present invention comprises a rotating blade, in particular for the comminution of food materials, which is adapted to be attached to an operating shaft and which includes at least two blade supporting arms which extend radially from a mid-portion. The blade supporting arms each have a knife-edge with cutting edges on a free edge in the direction of rotation. According to the present invention, the knife-edge of the one supporting arm is directed upwardly and the knife-edge of the other supporting arm is directed downwardly, and in the area of the knife-edges the legs are profiled such that a portion projecting from the surface of the supporting arms is formed. The projecting portion is limited by the knife-edge on the one side and by a chamfered surface extending outwardly to the cutting edge on the other side. The knife-edge and the chamfered surface enclose a chamfer angle.

  • Patent number: 5522659
Abstract: An electrically operated hand mixer includes processing tools drivable by an electric motor for processing foods, and a housing accommodating the electric motor. A handle for manipulating the hand mixer is provided on the housing and extends substantially transversely to the longitudinal axis of the processing tools, wherein a connecting cable extends from the housing at the end remote from the processing tools and is swivellably guided in an antikink joint adapted to be swung from the housing. A winding-up arrangement is provided on the housing permitting winding the connecting cable onto the appliance. The antikink joint additionally serves as the winding-up arrangement in conjunction with a snap-in locking arrangement which, in a fixed position, along with the winding-up arrangement, permits guiding the connecting cable during the winding-up action. A reliable winding-up arrangement is achieved thereby in a simple manner.

  • Patent number: 5316382
Abstract: An electrically driven handmixer comprises a manually actuated electric switching device for an electromotor with several switch steps (I, II, III) for permanent operation of the electromotor as well as at least one switch step (IL) for short-time operation. A coupling device is used for holding and driving various insertable tools, and an interlock ensures that after the insertion of the blending attachment or other knife-like tool into the coupling device, the electromotor remains separated from the power supply despite the activation of the switch steps (I, II, III) for permanent operation of the electromotor, whereas the electromotor remains connected with the power supply during the manual actuation of the switch step (IL) for short-time operation of the electromotor.
