  • Patent number: 8775222
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for managing a rental vehicle reservation based at least in part on automated processing of vehicle repair data corresponding to a disabled vehicle that is related to the rental vehicle reservation. For example, a preferred method and system can automatically compute from the vehicle repair data an amount of time that is likely to be needed by a repair facility to complete repairs to the disabled vehicle, which in turn can drive more accurate management of an authorization period for the rental vehicle reservation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 16, 2012
Date of Patent: July 8, 2014
    Assignee: The Crawford Group, Inc.
Inventors: David G. Smith, Kimberly A. DeVallance, Owen R. Miller, Regina M. Miller, Jon B. Jouris, Maribeth Concannon, Shawn R. Cormier

  • Publication number: 20070174081
Abstract: Computer based rental vehicle tracking and reservation systems provide a callback reminder function. An automated scheduler uses a rules engine to create and update the callback reminders. The scheduler uses one or more sets of business rules embodied as algorithms in a rules engine to process the rental records. The business rules are flexible and may be tailored to specific scenarios. The rules engine is preferably executed each time a record is updated to correspondingly update the associated callback reminders.
