    Abstract: A process for creating color effects in extrudable material, such as plastic. The process includes the steps of providing a first flow of viscous material of a first color and a second flow of viscous material of a second color, the second color being different from the first color. Next, the first and second flows are combined to form a stream of viscous material, where the stream is characterized by a first band of the first color and a second band of the second color, the second band being adjacent to the first band. The stream of viscous material is fed through a static mixer such that, upon exiting the static mixer, the stream is further characterized by a third band of a third color, the third color being different from the first and second colors, the third band being located between the first and second bands.
