  • Patent number: 9505488
Abstract: An energy protection device comprising an activation unit for, in a low energy situation, automatically activating an energy protection function comprising automatically engaging an autothrust and automatically controlling the engines of the aircraft for the engines to supply a maximum thrust, an auxiliary monitoring unit configured to perform a monitoring to detect an absence of activation of a protection mode by at least one of the engines of the aircraft although an activation command has been transmitted, and a disconnection unit to automatically disconnect the autothrust in case of the detection of such a situation, a disconnection of the autothrust resulting in the triggering of the protection function being stopped.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 29, 2016
    Assignee: Airbus Operations (SAS)
    Inventor: Marie-Claire Moune
  • Patent number: 9481472
Abstract: Energy protection device for an aircraft. The device (1) comprises units (12, 14, 15) for automatically deactivating an energy protection function, if a return of the aircraft to an operational flight domain is detected after the activation of this protection function, and for automatically managing an autothrust (2), if at least one of the following conditions is satisfied: a relaxing of a control member is detected, and the angle of attack of the aircraft is below a predetermined threshold.

Date of Patent: November 1, 2016
    Assignee: Airbus Operations (SAS)
Inventors: Marie-Claire Moune, Jean Muller, Christophe Poujol, Julien Fontan
  • Patent number: 9454908
Abstract: A method and system for managing automatic guidance of an aircraft during a complete engine failure. Said system includes means for monitoring engines so as to be able to detect a complete failure of the engines; means for detecting whether the aircraft is in flight; means for detecting whether the aircraft is in a different guidance mode from a guidance mode configured to make the aircraft descend with a reduced engine thrust and a fixed speed; and control means for automatically bringing guidance means of the aircraft into a guidance configuration compatible with the situation associated with the complete failure of the engines.

Date of Patent: September 27, 2016
    Assignee: AIRBUS OPERATIONS S.A.S.

  • Patent number: 9315258
Abstract: A flight control system includes at least one flight domain protection module intended at least for manual piloting and an auxiliary element configured to automatically transmit to the protection module, upon a detection of automatic piloting of the aircraft using an automatic piloting device, a predetermined auxiliary position, representing a control stick position equivalent, the protection module using the auxiliary position as a control stick position to implement a flight domain protection during the automatic piloting.

  • Patent number: 8838295
Abstract: An energy protection device includes a plurality of sensors that detect a triggering situation requiring an energy protection and a control unit that actuates an energy protection function when the triggering situation is detected and also activates an autothrottle. When the control unit begins the energy protection function, an original engagement state of the autothrottle before the triggering is stored. Thus, when the aircraft returns to an operational flight domain not requiring the energy protection function, the control unit stops the energy protection function and sets an engagement state of the autothrottle based on the stored original engagement state.
