Publication number: 20220322624Abstract: There is a module for vertical farming. Vertical posts form a grid having rows in both the longitudinal direction and transverse direction. Diagonal support members are installed between posts in a longitudinal direction, along two opposed inner sides of the module, one being along a corridor for passage. In the transverse direction, other diagonal support members are installed without blocking the corridor, and racks are formed in said direction comprising the other diagonal support members, the racks extending vertically for growing plants therein along a height thereof. Floor anchors and corresponding ceiling anchors, located respectively at the bottom and at the top of each one of the posts, are provided to fasten modules on top of each other such that the structure formed by the posts is the load-bearing structure. Catwalks are installed for human passage in the corridor and between adjacent racks.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2020Publication date: October 13, 2022Inventors: Yves D'AOUST, Marie-José MONTPETIT, Stéphane RAINVILLE

Publication number: 20220253756Abstract: There is described a method and distributed network for managing a supply chain. At least one local production system is fed with an algorithm for producing a good or service (such as agricultural produce) over a production duration. An edge computing device, receives and treats data originating from the at least one local production system. A server periodically receives, from remote data sources, data relative to a market for the good or service, after a time period which is less than the production duration, and receives data treated by the edge computing device to perform comparisons with the data relative to the market to make a diagnostic. The diagnostic is transmitted to a machine learning module for updating the algorithm for production after the time period which is less than the production duration and feeding the algorithm as updated to the at least one local production system.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2020Publication date: August 11, 2022Inventors: Yves D'AOUST, Marie-José MONTPETIT, Stéphane RAINVILLE

Publication number: 20090180614Abstract: Content delivered to client device over an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)-based network is protected through a digital rights management (DRM) scheme that leverages IMS service and access infrastructure, such as the IMS core. After authentication and selection of content to be played for the user, the network identifies a key management system having keys for decrypting the selected content. A bootstrapping service function participates in an application-level authentication of the client device to establish a secure communication channel between the key management system and the client device. The key management system responds to a content key request received from the client device by providing a content key via the secure communication channel. The network can then stream content to the client device, which decrypts it using the content key.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 10, 2008Publication date: July 16, 2009Applicant: GENERAL INSTRUMENT CORPORATIONInventors: Priya Rajagopal, Marie Jose Montpetit, Petr Peterka

Publication number: 20090067420Abstract: A device is operable to determine location of a packet-switched device, and the location is used to provide location-based services for the packet-switched device. The device includes an interface receiving a message. The message includes a tag inserted by an access point between the packet-switched device and the device. A database stores a plurality of tags and a location for each tag. The device parses the received message to identify the tag, and performs a lookup on the database using the tag to determine a corresponding location for the tag. This location is an estimation of a location of the packet-switched device, and the location is operable to be used to provide a location-based service for the packet-switched device.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 11, 2007Publication date: March 12, 2009Applicant: GENERAL INSTRUMENT CORPORATIONInventors: Sathyam Ganesan, Marie Jose Montpetit, Carlton J. Publication number: 20080162410Abstract: A method and apparatus for augmenting a dynamic hash table (DHT) with home subscriber server (HSS) functionality for an electronic device in a peer-to-peer communications network is disclosed. The method may include, sending a DHT join query to join the peer-to-peer communications network, and determining if the DHT join query is answered. If the DHT query is not answered, the method may include assuming the role of super node, establishing a secure tunnel to an HSS and performing authentication, acquiring a secure key to communicate to the HSS, and answering queries from other nodes in the peer-to-peer communications network. Otherwise, if the DHT join query is answered, the method may include assuming a role other than the super node in the peer-to-peer communications network.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 27, 2006Publication date: July 3, 2008Applicant: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Marie Jose Montpetit, Sathyam Ganesan

Publication number: 20080059409Abstract: The method and apparatus allow a subscriber to limit streaming of content from subscriber premises equipment (e.g., a STB, a DVR, a PVR, etc.) or from an element in the network (e.g., a streaming server) to a mobile device such as a mobile telephone. Thus, the streaming of content can be restricted so that it is not streamed to the mobile device without some indication from the subscriber that streaming of the restricted content is authorized.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 6, 2006Publication date: March 6, 2008Inventor: Marie Jose Montpetit

Publication number: 20070223523Abstract: A communication system is provided that ensures that a rich variety and complexity of network offerings may be experienced by users without overloading terminals and clients by offering user-centric network services. When a user device first registers with a network, the user device notifies the network of its client capabilities, such as video, VoIP, presence, and so on. Based on the client capabilities and further based on any user preferences, the network then announces, that is, offers to the user, a list of available services for the user to choose from. Network services and applications then may be downloaded and used only when the services and applications are needed or desired by users, thereby allowing a thin middleware layer and network customization.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2007Publication date: September 27, 2007Applicant: MOTOROLA, INC.Inventors: Marie Jose Montpetit, Liang Q. Publication number: 20020150060Abstract: A data communication system for a constellation of low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellites (14a, 14b, . . . ) is disclosed. The data to be communicated is received by a transmitting ground terminal (50) either from one of a number of other networks (19a, 19b, . . . ) or an end user (17d, 17e, or 17f) in the form of data packets of varying lengths and protocols. Each data packet includes a header (41) and a payload (43). The header (41) contains address and other control information and the payload (43) contains the data to be communicated. The data packets are formatted by a formatting system (51) in the ground terminal (50) into standard data packets of uniform length having a standard header (65) and a standard payload (67). Upon receipt by an uplink satellite (54), the standard header (65) of the standard data packets is appended with data for system management to create asymmetric standard data packets having an asymmetric header (66) and standard payload (67).Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 1998Publication date: October 17, 2002Inventor: MARIE-JOSE MONTPETIT

Patent number: 6366761Abstract: A data communication system and method that allocates an amount of bandwidth to a ground terminal for uplink transmission of one or more data packets in a low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellite data communication network. A bandwidth request message is generated and transmitted to a bandwidth allocation processing unit in the LEO satellite data communication network. The bandwidth request message requests allocation of an amount of bandwidth to a ground terminal for uplink transmission of one or more data packets and identifies a priority status of the data packets for which bandwidth is sought. The bandwidth allocation processing unit allocates bandwidth to the ground terminal in accordance with the priority status identified in the bandwidth request message. Allocated bandwidth is reported to the ground terminal in a bandwidth allocation response.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1998Date of Patent: April 2, 2002Assignee: Teledesic LLCInventor: Marie-José Montpetit
