  • Publication number: 20160085857
Abstract: A plurality of confidence values is classified into one of a plurality of classes in accordance with a first criterion that was defined prior to the plurality of confidence values being received. The plurality of confidence values represents confidence of answers to a query submitted to an answering system. A second set of one or more thresholds based, at least in part, on the plurality of confidence values is determined. Unclassified ones of the plurality of confidence values are classified into one of the plurality of classes based, at least in part, on a number of the plurality of classes and the second set of one or more thresholds. The answers represented by the plurality of confidence values are presented in accordance with the classification of the plurality of confidence values into the plurality of classes.

  • Publication number: 20160078182
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for outputting a treatment recommendation for a medical malady. The mechanisms receive an input specifying a medical malady of a specified patient and determine one or more constituent agents of a potential treatment for the specified medical malady of the specified patient. The mechanisms retrieve a treatment toxicity profile corresponding to the medical malady. In addition, the mechanisms calculate a treatment toxicity score for the potential treatment based on a comparison of patient medical attributes of the specified patient to toxicity criteria associated with the one or more constituent agents identified in the treatment toxicity profile. The mechanisms then output a treatment recommendation based on the treatment toxicity score.

  • Publication number: 20160012041
Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for identifying unchecked criteria in unstructured and semi-structured data within a form. Text spans representing unchecked criteria within unstructured text in a form are detected and classified to facilitate accurate interpretation of the text. Section identification and annotation operations are then performed to identify and categorize sections within the form. Checklist sections within the form, along with associated checkmarks and boxes, are then identified, followed by the identification of checked item, criteria scope, and previously undetected checklist sections. Once all checklist sections and checked criteria have been identified, remaining text spans within a checklist section are annotated as unchecked criteria.

  • Publication number: 20150207868
Abstract: A computer program product in one embodiment a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions executable by a computer to cause the computer to perform a method that includes establishing, by the computer, communication between a master node and several federated nodes, where each node is an instance of a distributed application; initialize, by the computer, the distributed application, where the initialization includes the federated nodes processing data local thereto and providing information about the local data to the master node; and after initialization, at run time, receive, by the computer, data requests, where the master node services the data requests by routing the requests to the nodes.

  • Patent number: 8756231
Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for hierarchical search retrieval. The method includes performing a text search on a hierarchy data structure of information. Forming a limited size hierarchy data structure using the search results. Assigning a location number for each search result in the hierarchy data structure. Sorting the hierarchy data structure. Clustering the sorted hierarchy data structure by categorizing the search results in the hierarchy data structure into groups that are related based on proximity. Limiting a hierarchical depth for each group in the clustered hierarchy data structure based on a configurable depth value to reduce hierarchical results for presentation. Providing the clustered hierarchical data structure as a list of search results as output.

  • Publication number: 20110184946
Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for returning search results based on text and associated synonyms. The system including an input module configured for receiving a text search term. A search module is configured for searching index documents with the text search term to return matched index documents, and for searching synonym index entries to return classifications for synonym expansion for expanding the search for index documents. An analyzer module is configured for obtaining tokens for the text search term from the synonym index entries for determining matched synonym index entries. The search module is further configured for obtaining assigned synonym matching strength information of the matched synonym index entries in a search results list, and for sorting the search results list based on a confidence score to form a sorted search results list. An output module for presenting the sorted search result list on an interface module.
