  • Patent number: 4961240
Abstract: The backpart of a shoe is moulded by a heel band (240) and at the same time the lasting marginal portions of the upper are wiped over and pressed by wiper plates (270) against corresponding marginal portions of the insole, bedding pressure being applied by the upthrust of the shoe support (10). The moulding and bedding times are independently settable, and at the end of the bedding time, and while mould clamping pressure is still being applied, the last pin (18) is retracted and the heel band (240) and wiper plates (270), still holding the shoe, are swung to an out-of-the-way position, the shoe being released, at the end of the moulding time, into a receptacle (346). Meanwhile the operating locatility is free for a further shoe to be loaded. A configuration of two such machines side-by-side with a common central receptacle (346) is described.

  • Patent number: 4744120
Abstract: A combined heel end assembling, backpart moulding and heel seat lasting machine comprises a shoe support for supporting a shoe bottom uppermost. For gripping and tensioning the shoe upper on its last prior to the combined operation taking place, two grippers are provided with each of which is associated a reaction lever/presser member, the latter serving to hold the last in position while the grippers tension the upper heightwise. Thereafter, the grippers are moved lengthwise of the shoe to tension the upper about the heel end of the last. The machine also comprises a heel band for backpart moulding and wipers for lasting the heel seat region of the shoe, adhesive applying means being provided for applying adhesive in the heel seat prior to lasting. A plurality of positional adjustments within the shoe support is provided.

  • Patent number: 4706585
Abstract: Method of attaching belt loops (L) to articles of clothing (6), e.g. trousers and skirts, comprises feeding a strip of material (M) through a cutting station (C) at which it is cut into lengths (L) and securing those lengths in position by stitching. Prior to cutting, adhesive is applied to the strip (M) at either sides of each cutting location so that each end of each length has a coating of adhesive. The adhesive, which is applied to both sides of the strip, is to prevent fraying.
